About Product Control

The primary function of Product Control is to work closely with all business stakeholders in achieving the objectives of the firm, in compliance with all relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
In particular it is the responsibility of Product Control to ensure the accuracy and integrity of revenues generated by the desk, to ensure the balance sheet and risk systems accurately reflect risks involved in business activities and to ensure that the general ledger properly reflects the P&L and positions relating to the products traded.
Further PC is required to provide detailed commentary and MIS for senior management on the business, analyzing significant market and position factors contributing to these results, as well as reports for regulatory capital calculations

Overall purpose of role:

  • Calculation and analytics around the Own Credit adjustments for the bank globally

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:
  • Key specific accountabilities.
    • Weekly Own Credit reporting production
    • Adhere to the control and governance principles of product control function, including preparation and substantiation of adjustments, understanding the Balance Sheet, control around accuracy of Own Credit calculations
    • Balance Sheet substantiation at month end
    • Process development through maintenance of updated documentation and improvements to bring about greater efficiency and control.
    • Production of weekly and monthly MIS reporting to senior management
    • Communication of requirements to global line control teams
    • Control and reconciliation of calculation inputs
  • Stakeholder management and leadership.
    • Liaising with global line PC teams, senior business and finance management, financial control and technical accounting.
  • Decision making and problem solving.
    • Able to investigate issues independently and provide suggestions on fix to Line Manager. Examples include fixing SAP-TDB mapping rules, clearing action points in Adjustment Review, FX BLBS, BLBS, Management Review Pack etc.

Your Skills and Qualifications will include
  • Basic
    • ACA / CPA / CFA
    • Top tier university - 2:1 degree or equivalent
    • Demonstrate appreciation of controls, process enhancement and improvement
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Experienced with MS Office (strong Excel skills)
    • Financial Product knowledge - particularly around note issuance
  • Preferred
    • Previous exposure to money market and derivative products
    • Experience within a top tier investment bank
    • VBA macro skill
    • Prior line PC experience
