A successful candidate is expected to:

  • Be financially literate and practised in project accounting and cost centre management
  • Manage the portfolio budget and resourcing plans, routine and ad hoc analysis to enable senior management decision-making
  • Lead programme/project managers to ensure compliance with bank project governance policies and standards
  • Maintain high quality programme/project level MI and standing data as a basis for reporting
  • Drive automation and standardization within the reporting function
  • Support strategic goals with data, decisions and drive
  • Engage as a member of the planning team to support communications, financial management, vendor management, employee engagement, location strategy, footprint analysis, and other key strategic initiatives

This is an essential role that will play a crucial part in defining ways-of-working within the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DELIVERABLES:

Financial Management & Controls

  • Drive financial discipline in project budgeting, forecasting and expenditure. 
  • Provide guidance on financial management policies, processes and standards to ensure all projects in the portfolio are compliant.
  • Encourage a cost aware environment
  • Ensure Clarity (PPM system) is updated in line with the stipulated operating rhythm.
  • Day-to-day responsibility for procurement and vendor management workflow activity in relation to projects

 

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track, monitor and provide regular reports on projects and program including; risks, issues, dependencies, financials, milestones, etc
  • Support department leadership team in preparing for key meeting (e.g. Steer Co, Governance etc) including deck preparation and quality checking the information provided.
  • Provide minutes and feedback on all PRC, PSC, Governance meetings

 

Planning & Controls

  • Implement controls based on but not limited to Project Governance Policy, Project Management Standards and System Delivery Framework.
  • Implement continuous improvement around programme and project governance standards through redefining the methods and templates used and by providing guidance to the project managers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Very strong financial tracking / monitoring skills (excel) and presentation skills (PowerPoint)
  • Results-orientated able to deliver under pressure in within short timeframes
  • Ability to self-prioritise and “Triage” tasks
  • Team player with the ability to interact and drive outcomes across the various projects
  • Articulate, able to construct and communicate robust arguments in support of decision-making
  • Project management/program management experience
  • Understanding of technology in an investment bank preferred
  • Minimum certificate or diploma level education in relevant field
