Property fund accountant for a leading asset manager in London

Job Summary


The job holder will have primary management accounting and financial reporting responsibility for a range of property funds.  This will involve accounting for all financial transactions required to prepare monthly/quarterly fund valuations under FRS 101 or FRS 102, as well as providing first drafts of annual statutory accounts.  As part of this role, the fund accountant will also be required to provide cross cover support on other property funds (including unitised funds).

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Maintenance and control of primary accounting records;
  • Management Reporting; preparing annual statutory accounts in line with FRS 101 or FRS 102 as appropriate;
  • Preparing quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts;
  • Client reporting; liaising with external lawyers, auditors, Business Partners and dealing with Investor requests;
  • Production of PPFI, IPD and internal property fund returns,
  • VAT reporting, liaising with HMRC and internal compliance;
  • Tax reporting, preparing tax packs for review;
  • Ensuring all reporting deadlines are met;
  • Supervising cash management and liaising with Lenders re roll-overs and interest payments, monitoring and reporting on loan covenants,
  • Ensuring adequate finance procedures are in place and implementing improved procedures where necessary;
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards;
  • Ensuring the figures provided to IPD reconcile with the figures provided for fund valuations; and
  • Support to fund and asset managers with any other ad hoc issues, queries and requests from time to time

The role requires extensive liaison with asset management, members of the senior management team, managing agents and external advisors.

 

Profile of Ideal Candidate

 

  • Academic Qualifications: Degree (2:1 minimum) or equivalent experience is essential;
  • Professional: Part-qualified/ qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA or equivalent experience is essential

Specialist knowledge / skills:

  • FRS 101 and FRS 102 knowledge;
  • Excel intermediate;
  • Strong property investment industry knowledge and experience is essential;
  • Experience with accounting for VAT;
  • Confident networking across all sectors.
