The Head of Southern California Commercial Real Estate is responsible for the management and ongoing professional development of the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending team in southern California. S/he will provide mentoring and oversight of individuals and administrative staff responsible for managing a portfolio of existing commercial relationships, originating new commercial relationships and financing transactions, as well as cross-selling the Bank’s other products and services. The Head of CRE is a top producer with a very high level of industry and product expertise and is an active partner and member of the SoCal and Western Region senior leadership team. May participate in strategic decision–making beyond their specific lending area.Responsibilities
Credit Quality/Portfolio Management:
In client relationship management role, the Head of SoCal CRE has primary responsibility for delivering a “One Boston Private” set of products, services and solutions to our clients. Actively works with all business areas to develop and maintain cross-selling opportunities. Handles all aspects of client interaction, including directing and coordinating execution of transactions. May be viewed as a partner by management in establishing commitment limits. While maintaining a strong customer focus and customer relations, assesses and monitors a commercial and private banking loan portfolio. Understands, adopts, and adheres to the Bank’s Loan Policy. Provides accurate assessments of credit risk as exhibited by proper risk ratings, comprehensive and accurate credit applications submitted for approval, solid loan recommendations and proposed structures. Understands loan documentation. Maintains comprehensive and current credit files. Monitors risk (delinquencies, overdrafts, etc.). Provides timely information to management regarding potential portfolio issues.
Cultivates new lending opportunities that can be developed into holistic strategic relationships. Responsible for annual goals tied to loan volume, fee income generation and cross-sales. Works closely with internal partners to generate internal referrals as well as develops an external network of centers of influence. Involved within the community and supports the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives.
Manages a staff of Commercial Loan Officers and Commercial Loan Assistants.
Senior Officer Duties:
Actively engaged in a leadership role either internally or externally in the community (charitable and/or business organizations). Proficient with a variety of Bank products and services. Oversight of team t & e budget and charitable/business sponsorship spending. Participates in special projects and initiatives on a regular basis such as staff meeting, senior officer and board presentations, strategic planning offsites and internal client development initiatives. Actively motivate, mentor and develop more junior team members and employees. Provide guidance on professional development plans for team members as appropriate.Qualifications
