Denver-based equity investment manager is seeking a Quantitative Data Analyst to streamline and enhance the data and analytical workflows that drive the team's idea generation, portfolio construction, and risk management functions. The investment team manages both long-only and long/short domestic US equity investments. The candidate will work alongside a small investment team that consists of a portfolio manager, trader/risk manager and research analysts. The Quantitative Data Analyst will work closely with research and portfolio management professionals to implement new ideas.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, enhance and manage quantitative models
- Utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets for data-informed decision making
- Design and improve proprietary data repositories and financial data platforms
- Support, maintain and address enhancements across various investment application interfaces and data integration practice
- Automate and coordinate data extraction processes from various market data vendors
- Manage and enhance reporting and performance/risk analytics functions
- Create data visualization tools, participate in back-testing and resolve data quality problems
- Leverage service providers, peer networks and user collaboration sources for best practices
- Assist with other vended tools currently utilized by the investment team
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related discipline with excellent academic credentials
- Strong interest in investment management and interest in understanding the team’s investment philosophy and process
- Ability to understand the team and firm’s existing data and technology infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of financial equity data a plus with experience in Bloomberg, Barra, Tableau and FactSet
- Broad knowledge of database concepts with proficiency in SQL and stored procedures, preferably with Microsoft SQL Server
- 2+ years of solid coding experience, preferably in Python
- Experience in processing large and complex datasets
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a small, collaborative team environment
- Advanced knowledge of math and statistics
- Attention to detail and intellectual curiosity
