Sales Specialist
US Sales Tax Specialist Lake Mary/en-US/DHC/job/Lake-Mary/US-Sales-Tax-Specialist_REQ0920_0016585-1/apply

In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of US state and local sales and use tax compliance for Finastra entities. You will ensure sales are taxed correctly and appropriate use tax is paid or accrued on applicable purchases.

Responsibilities include:

- Complete monthly filings of all sales and use tax returns for all Finastra entities

- Research and review different tax rates and taxability rules in the different states and localities

- Review sales and use tax related processes and procedures, identify and implement changes to improve efficiency/effectiveness.

- Ensure tax engine (Sovos) and billing system is calculating sales tax properly

- Manage sales and use tax audits (includes directly corresponding with government tax auditors as the face of Finastra).

- Review sales tax assessments from various state and local tax authorities, formulate and execute effective responses/appeals

- Review and respond to customers and internal stakeholders questions on taxability of specific transactions

- Manage the accounting for sales and use tax, including supporting reconciliations and resolution of reconciling differences

Experience and other requirements:

- Experience with sales and use tax specifically for software/Fintech companies

- Experience working with sales tax engines, such as Sovos

- Experience with preparation and review of sales and use tax returns in all the different US states, including various cities

- Demonstrated negotiation skills with tax auditors/customers across multiple state jurisdictions. Track record of positive results.

- 5+ years of experience driving the sales and use tax function of a multinational company,

- Strong communication skills, both written and oral (English)

- Ability to analyze contract agreements and terms, research and apply applicable complex tax laws to address tax issues

- 5+ years of experience using sales tax return preparation software such as Taxsolver and tax research tools such as CCH and Checkpoint

- Strong excel skills

- Strong time management, communication, analytical and organizational skills

- Detail-oriented, organized and able to deliver on tight timelines in a fast-paced environment

- Work during US business hours (Eastern Standard Time) to be aligned with the US governments and the US business hours of operation

- Meet and work face to face in the United States with tax auditors from US state and local governments.

- US SSN# required

Education requirements:

- Bachelor/Masters Degree in US Tax/Accounting/Finance
