The Account Manager is responsible for working in conjunction with the Nuveen GlobalStrategic Relations (GSR) Team to manage domestic external sponsor firm relationships; organize, maintain, and distribute information on key sponsor firms to internal partners; partner to mentor and monitor Associate Account Manager activities.


  • Relationship Building - Maintain strong relationships with:
    • 3rd party intermediary relationship managers; product & platform managers & specialists; manager research analysts; proprietary distribution partners; marketing; wealth management professionals
    • Internal relationships at Nuveen to include: Product, Channel Marketing, Distribution, Legal, Wealth Management Services and DCIO
  • Education - Work with appropriate touchpoints within intermediaries regarding Nuveen's capabilities, particularly:
    • Introducing GSR's Core & Emerging Strategies to identify strong complements, replacements or gaps in their line up
    • Maintaining existing shelf wins through continued education and timely information
    • Introduce new product ideas and manufacturing capabilities to procure appropriate client solutions
    • Product-specific tools
    • Product agnostic services
  • Coordination
    • Simultaneous management of internal Nuveen Investments' resources and external client firm resources to ensure execution and delivery of firm specific projects, campaigns and meetings
    • Assist in the development and execution of business plans designed to increase assets, revenue & marketshare
    • Timely maintenance of internal documents meant to provide transparency to internal constituents
    • Obtain and disseminate firm intelligence to home office and wholesalers resulting in improved sales execution
  • Establish and maintain a process and rotation for product placement and visibility by identifying:
    • Onboarding basics mutual funds, ETFs, AI and SMAs and facilitating those additions
    • Select list opportunities across all platforms for both discretionary & recommended placements
    • Promotional opportunities through conferences, conference calls, infield/sales desk training, proprietary publications
    • Establish and maintain a process and rotation for product placement and visibility by identifying:

    • Providing a top/down view of best opportunities, by firm
    • Identifying mutually beneficial and appropriate opportunities for each client/Nuveen relationship
    • Align client needs with Nuveen Strategic Growth Initiatives


  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in business or finance preferred.
  • 10+ years of applicable work experience preferably within the investment management industry
  • We seek an individual who has demonstrated strong existing relationships within sales, business, product and research individuals or have held an RIA gatekeeping role at a competitor firm.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of retail mutual fund products; financial markets and competitive landscape; product performance and investment management philosophy, manager search and selection; knowledge of the separate account marketplace, alternative investments and ETFs is a major plus.


  • Demonstrated professional approach to work in a service-orientated environment including strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Technically proficient in the financial industry


  • Series 7 required (if expired: within three months of employment)
  • Series 63 and 65 are required within six months of employment


  • 50%+ travel may be required
