This role will be involved in all aspects of actuarial support for the Ryan Specialty Group. It is expected that this role will provide support for a number of the RSG Managing General Underwriters and RT Specialty Brokerage operations as required.

Position Summary:

 

This role will be involved in all aspects of actuarial support for the Ryan Specialty Group. It is expected that this role will provide support for a number of the RSG Managing General Underwriters and RT Specialty Brokerage operations as required.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Scheduled and ad hoc analyses of underwriting performance and profitability.
  • Strategic analysis (including predictive modeling), identifying strengths/weaknesses and opportunities, leading to process / rating improvements and underwriting intelligence.
  • Product development – industry, peer, and market analyses to support new initiatives.
  • Maintenance of existing rating tools, development of new models, and assisting with integration of same into the RSG underwriting platform.
  • Portfolio modeling and monitoring – assist with production and profitability projections for the casualty portfolio and monitor production volume and appropriate metrics.
  • Continue to develop portfolio tools for identifying and monitoring aggregation of coverage for certain classes or specific exposures.
  • Regular communication with the underwriting staff, RSG management, and other internal functions such as IT and Finance.
  • Regular communication with insurance partners and their actuarial staffs.

 

Education/Experience/Skills:

 

  • 5+ years of experience.
  • BS in Actuarial Science, or a related degree.
  • 5+ Casualty Actuarial Society Exams completed.
  • 5+ years of Commercial Lines/Specialty Insurance business experience.
  • Excellent technical aptitude.
  • Experience with ratemaking, cat modeling and predictive modeling a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, programming, and data manipulation.
  • Experience with Access, SQL, Tableau, Other, etc.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance business.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to ask questions and creatively explore.
  • Willingness to get involved at all levels and aspects of the process as necessary.
