The Team: The Morningstar Legal & Compliance team are key advisors and partners to a variety of functions at Morningstar including product, marketing, finance, quality, human resources, corporate communications, strategic planning, and technology with the goal of keeping our business running smoothly. The Legal and Compliance functions play an essential role in supporting our companys infrastructure, day-to-day operations, and ongoing strategic initiatives.

The Role: The Privacy Analyst will assist in supporting Morningstars privacy compliance related responsibilities. This individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining and performing the operational procedures required to support Morningstars privacy policies and requirements. The Analyst will also respond to customer RFPs, RFIs and contract reviews, and ensure current and future privacy related compliance and audit obligations are met. This position is based in our Chicago office.


  • Advise business partners Monitor and enforce compliance to privacy policies and standards
  • Document and manage privacy / compliance metrics and exceptions where necessary
  • Assist with documenting and regularly reviewing privacy policies, processes and procedure
  • Respond to customer RFPs, RFIs and vendor questionnaires
  • Assist with creating, publishing, presenting and maintaining privacy and security educational/training material
  • Manage and operate privacy related technologies
  • Liaise with third party audit personnel as required


  • An associates or bachelors degree
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and balance risks in ambiguous and complex situations
  • Ability to prioritize, adapt, and autonomously work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic work environment
  • Familiarity with computer and information technology
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and switch priorities with short notice
  • Strong business analysis, research and analytical skills
  • Experience in project management, information systems, privacy or compliance experience a plus
