The Senior BI Data Engineer is an interdisciplinary individual on the Enterprise BI team who works closely with multiple stakeholders, both in business and IT, to ensure the data most important to business analytics and the improvement of RSM’s BI operations is accessible and well-understood. Work with the DBA’s, BI Developers and business users to architect, design, implement and maintain secure, scalable BI data stores for structured and unstructured data. Optimize ongoing reporting and analytic processes by automating or simplifying self-service support for customers, both internal and external.
Essential Duties
Architect, design, develop, and implement secure, scalable data solutions including data models, databases, BI semantic (metadata) layer, ETL, integrations, etc., which enable BI resources to drive key business decision-making
Optimization of reporting and analytics processes to automate data availability and simplify self-service for internal and external customers
Administration and maintenance of the BI data environments, including data connectivity, system performance, datamarts, and security
Creation of new complex & simple reports and visualizations and support of existing reports
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree or similar education or experience within application development, DBA, data analytics required
Strong knowledge and experience with data ETL using tools like SSIS, Informatica, SAP DIS, or similar is required
Strong communication skills with business and IT partners required
Strong desire to master a modern BI tool is required
API integration and/or development skills preferred
Ability to mentor teams in data design optimized for data analytics required
3+ years in reporting or reporting data-related roles required
Experience supporting a WebFocus, Power BI or similar BI environment highly preferred
Metadata management experience preferred
Reporting environment administration preferred
Experience in translating business needs into Data design
Ability to influence and passion to mentor on proper data management practices to enable BI across an enterprise is preferred
