Senior UI Developer
The Chicago Application Development team is responsible for developing both internal and customer facing products for our ratings business, supporting various strategic, regulatory and operational objectives. The ideal candidate would have a strong experience in JavaScript frameworks - React or Vue.js , CSS, HTML 5, Node, corresponding unit testing frameworks and have good communication skills along with some exposure to User Experience designs.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Internal technology teams to understand and translate customer requirements to deliver high quality software products.
  • Leverage Agile & DevSecOps methodologies including task estimation, test automation, deployment automation, and continuous integration to improve overall execution speed and code quality.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming and estimation sessions to provide feedback and clarify requirements in the event of ambiguity.
  • Create Screen Mockups based on customer requirements and provide User Experience perspective. Be proactive in making recommendations to improve usability from the customer experience perspective.
  • Design and develop User Interfaces for responsive web / mobile apps for cross-browser compatibility.
  • Partner with User Experience teams and develop / modify web 2.0 / 3.0 user interfaces for new and existing web applications using web technologies and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Write test-driven, clean, modular code using external libraries or custom code.
  • Coordinate with front-line technical support teams to provide production support, including off-hours.
  • Be a self-starter who is proactive in seeking work or raising issues in the event of being blocked by impediments.
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner and be able to communicate status, explain technical constraints and or issues effectively.


Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience with hands-on UI design and development using Web 2.0 / Web 3.0 technologies.
  • 4+ years of experience with JavaScript/ES6/Typescript and at least one frontend framework, for instance React or Vue.
  • Experience in modern package management, build and test frameworks (e.g. NPM, Yarn, Webpack, Jest, Enzyme, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, Wraith).
  • Experience in HTML5, CSS3, CSS preprocessors such as SCSS and "CSS in JS" libraries such as Styled Components.
  • Recommend or follow Design System including Visual Style Guide to be used across various web applications.
  • 2+ years of experience with DevOps tools and technologies including but not limited to Bamboo, BitBucket or Git with a heavy emphasis on Automation and Quality (CI/CD).
  • 2+ years of experience working in high-performance teams using Agile methodologies.
  • An understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS)/ Cloud services.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Passion for emerging technologies and innovation.
  • Problem-solver who adopts an analytical approach to solving technical and business problems and chooses the most appropriate technology to solve the right business problem.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field


Preferred:
  • Experience with and understanding of UX, UXD, IXD, IA, Design System and Service Design concepts, techniques and best practices.
  • Experience with adaptive, responsive, fluid designs and progressive web apps for desktop and mobile access.
  • Familiarity with website analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, and integrating them
  • Have a good understanding of Accessibility design and development in web applications
  • Banking or Financial Services experience
  • Experience working with distributed development teams
