The Opportunity!

CLA has an opportunity for you to contribute to the growth of our Federal Tax Strategies (FTS) Credits and Incentives practice in the Chicago market!

This role will have a HUGE opportunity to advance your career and make your mark!

You will develop and expand relationships with small to mid-sized privately held businesses providing consulting services that help them save money through a variety of service offerings including R&D credits, cost segregation, energy credits, Federal WOTC, fixed assets studies and other credits and incentives.

What you'll do as the FTS Director:

  • Ensure that R&D projects are conducted in accordance with firm standards and completed on time and within budget. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills. Prior supervisory experience is required and experience with training and leading staff is expected.
  • Assist in conducting fieldwork. This may include visiting the client location, touring client facilities, investigating relevant facts, analyzing accounting information, preparing cost lead schedules and cost summary schedules, completing appropriate tax computations, and preparing written reports summarizing the findings. Typically some travel is required.
  • Have a command of federal and some state R&D rules and relevant court cases
  • Multi task and manage various project tasks at once as you are ultimately responsible for the overall project and deliverable. Initiate internal communication regarding status of tasks, relevant technical issues discovered, status of work load, expected due dates, etc.
  • Attend professional development and training sessions.

Your experience likely includes: *


Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration or related field.
5+ years experience providing a broad range of credits and incentives tax processes, including R&D tax credits, tools and concepts.
CPA, EA or other applicable advance certification
