The FederalReserve is developing a new interbank 24x7x365 real-time gross settlement(RTGS) service with integrated clearing functionality, called the FedNowservice. This service will help enable financial institutions provide theircustomers with the ability to send and receive payments any time, any day, andhave full access to those funds within seconds. This position is a unique opportunity to be part of a newmission-critical Federal Reserve initiative that will be transformative to thepayments landscape in the United States.
PositionContributions-Technical expert in one ormore highly specialized areas of applications systems analysis and programming.Responsible for software design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.Has full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis anddevelopment. Provides technical leadership on complex projects. Interacts withinternal project teams and work groups regularly. level of work required isconsidered advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision.This job does not have any direct reports. You have an appetite to learn, and apassion for technology, innovation, and developing new skills on evolvingtechnologies.
Whatwill be expected of you-
Serves as a Software Engineer: to design, develop andimplement new complex solutions in accordance with FedNow and Fed Standards
Develops software solutions (primarily backend) in Cloud
Provides input into strategic and tactical planning ofsoftware solutions and software development lifecycle changesDesign and buildJava application components, and integrate with software components and productsthat will be high performing, with world class scale and reliability
Trains and consults cross functionally within the organizationon troubleshooting/resolving highly complex and/or highly time criticalproblems
Collaborates with analysts as part of an integrated Agileteam to define user requirements and conduct design review for the developmentof complex and innovative cloud applications using modern internet-scale technologiesand Serverless architecture in Cloud
Demonstrates skill dexterity; seeking to continuouslyadapt and employ new technical skills alongside proven staples
Ensures that the quality of software developed,maintained and enhanced in-house and installed into production is sufficient toprevent the occurrence of catastrophic defects that cause the customersignificant problems, missed deadlines, or interruption to the productionenvironment
Ensure compliance with Fed policies, procedures andstandards
Provides primary or backup production support for applicationsand components, including but not limited to timely resolution to productionproblems and processing issues
Expertiseyou will bring-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, InformationSystems, or or experience
1-10 years software engineering experience in ateam-based environment
Demonstrated experience engineering software withcloud-first architectures
5+ years software engineering experience in a team-basedenvironment
Experience with building and deploying solutions in Cloud
Experience with Serverless architecture for buildingsoftware solutions in Cloud
Experience with CI/CD build tools, and DevOps processes
Experience developing high performance, high volume, highly available (24/7/365)environments
Experience with Agile software engineering (Scrum,Kanban, Lean etc)
Ideally experience working with aws cloud-based platformsin an enterprise environment
Proficient knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Unix,Windows)
Proficient knowledge of database development (SQL,Oracle, DB2)
Ideally, youll have experience with AWS services, andintegrating them into an application
Ideally youll have experience with leading edge Cloudtechnologies, such as Kafka, in-memory and NoSQL databases, messagingplatforms, memcache etc).
Demonstrates independent thinking and decision-makingabilities
Demonstrates excellent written and oral communicationabilities
Proficient knowledge of cloud security for applicationdevelopment and delivery
Proficient knowledge of object-oriented programming
