The Global Multi-Asset Strategies (GMAS) group encompasses two major areas: strategic and tactical asset allocation. The strategic team researches long-term asset allocation themes, including capital market expectations and issues of overall portfolio structure, in order to assist clients with long-term strategy and policy issues. The strategic team is also responsible for developing multi-asset class solutions to meet particular risk and return objectives for prospects and clients and for monitoring and adapting these solutions to address the changing capital market environment.

We have an open position for a Multi-Asset Analyst in Boston, reporting to the Associate Director, GMAS Group. This individual would assist in the development of investment policy recommendations for clients, and play a role in broad capital markets research within the team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development of broad and bespoke investment policy recommendations, using quantitative as well as qualitative inputs;
  • Assisting in the development and ongoing analysis of new investment strategies and solutions to meet non-traditional investment objectives;
  • Taking an active role in capital markets research, including writing white papers and creating and delivering internal and external presentations;
  • Researching and understanding fundamental characteristics of major asset classes and WMC products;
  • Working with returns databases and performing statistical analyses and model building for asset mix decisions;
  • Building and maintaining processes around optimizations and modeling that help create a scalable and efficient custom process for multi asset solutions; and
  • Researching issues related to public and corporate pension plans, e.g., pension reform legislation, and endowment clients, e.g., spending policies and the use of alternative investments.

The successful candidate should have the following attributes and qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience. Prior experience in consulting, investment banking, accounting using data and analytics to solve business problems is preferred;
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and modeling skills;
  • A background in economics, financial markets, and statistics;
  • Thorough familiarity with advanced functions in Excel;
  • Attention to detail, creativity, thoroughness and the ability to synthesize and prioritize information;
  • A passion for investing and capital markets;
  • Ability and willingness to build repeatable processes from an infrastructure perspective;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Sound business judgement;
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment;
  • Strong academic credentials. An undergraduate degree is required. A post-graduate degree or relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA), or progress towards one, is preferred; and
  • Quantitative programming and modeling skills in MATLAB/Python etc. not required but looked upon favorably.
