This positionwill establish a mature corporate practice for managing Enterprise applicationsrunning on Linux systems.  On a dailybasis, the individual will perform system analysis, day-to-day engineering,management of batch scheduling and resource allocation related operations andmaintenance activities for open systems in a global financial services company.The candidate must have significant experience installing and supporting RedhatEnterprise Linux in an enterprise environment, as well as a deep knowledge ofClusters, Enterprise Storage, Local & Wide Area Networks, Internet and DMZnetworks, network management tools, network load balancing concepts, systemsecurity practices as they relate to open systems.  This position will be part of the team thatis responsible for maintaining health and performance of the company's NorthAmerican network across 6 Data Centers and 30+ branch and satellite sites.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Create and run a Linux system management practice and routine thataligns with corporate IT policies and procedures. Administer the systems on aday to basis.

  • Be able to satisfactorily complete support tickets from theticketing system. Communicate effectively with end users and team leads tocomplete support tasks.

  • Contributing to projects by supporting the project manager as aresource in delivering network solutions on time.

  • Proactively generates and analyses reports related to systemusage. Monitors performance and health to identify issues on the platform.

  • Participate in an On Call rotation schedule, requiring personalavailability and responsibility to react to network system alerts and incidentescalations off hours.

  • Other tasks in general technology and business areas of knowledgeas needed.

  • Other duties or tasks as assigned by management.



  • Significant experience and comfort installing, operating andrecovering Linux operating systems.

  • In-depth understanding of Information Technology concepts andpractices related to network communications, protocols and routing; informationsecurity; and technology support operations.

  • Significant experience in managing and supporting Linux basedapplication servers, repository management, connectivity, Intel architecture(HP Superdome / Cisco UCS a plus), orchestration toolsets (Ansible, Chef),virtualization using KVM and VMWare.

  • Expertise in TCP/IP protocol including advanced troubleshootingcapability.

  • Experience using packet capturing and similar network analysistools to identify communications problem causes.

  • Understanding of load balancing technology, preferred experiencewith Citrix Netscalers.

  • Use of Windows PCs, MS Office suite, flow chart and diagramsoftware (e.g. Visio) and related software for business purposes, laptop andsmartphone usage.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; orone to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinationof education and experience.

  • RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) qualified (orequivalent).

  • 5+ years of Systems Administration experience

  • Experience with the following technologies:

    • RedHatEnterprise Linux

    • RedHatSatellite systems management software

    • RedHat HighAvailability Clustering

    • RedHat IDM Identity management

    • Experiencewith enterprise level backup systems (Rubrik a plus).

Travel Required

It is expectedthat this position may include travel up to 5% of the time.  This is subject to change based on manyfactors, including business needs

Language Ability

Ability toread/comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; writesimple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one/smallgroup situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

Mathematical Ability

Ability to addand subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weightmeasurement, volume, and distance.
