Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Walpole, MA

As an Engineering Technician, you will provide technical support to manufacturing engineers on a variety of technical tasks within Defense Naval Walpole site. Support that gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as quality or process test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). The ET Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. The ET has the ability to use a personal computer to perform the analyses and development of documentation/reports and may conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis of production components or fixtures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing Engineering in the execution of all Machining processes associated with CPP manufacture within the BMC
  • Carry out rationalization of manufacturing Technical Instructions (TIs) across all part numbers produced in the BMC and AT for all associated operations and present to machining / assembly Process Owner for review and approval Using statistical analysis, perform checks on lifting devices and fixtures and make necessary adjustments to maintain certified devices
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to streamline and improve execution of machining and inspection operations in order to meet the plants required rate through respective operations Implement and drive process improvements using appropriate quality tools
  • Work with Process Owner to implement new parts/programs/equipment efficiently with the desire to drive towards Zero defects within the Walpole site
  • Day to Day Engineering Support:
  • Lead and/or support investigations, root cause analysis and containment activities Lead identification and deployment improvement activities associated with machining operations
  • Work with operations in identification and reduction of waste activities currently experienced during those recognized machining operations Assess compliance to process in different areas

Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Understanding of manufacturing controls and product safety Experience with problem resolution and root cause analysis
  • Familiar with quality assurance and quality control concepts
  • Demonstrated experience with CNC Programming Proficient knowledge of MS Office products - Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience using basic quality tools and techniques
  • Experience with Interpretation of Engineering Drawings using GD&T Knowledge and skills in process analyzer and / or other stats tools (i.e. Minitab)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts
  • Ability to present information in front of others
