Job Description

The Intern Program at Ameriprise Financial offers the opportunity to build business skills and contribute to the success of the company by delivering on projects and participation in professional seminars, social events and volunteer activities. During the program, individuals will gain exposure to a variety of corporate responsibilities in the applicable business unit.

The Marketing intern will be part of a dynamic team that delivers high-quality marketing needs for Ameriprise Financial, a Fortune 250 company in the financial services industry. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop skills that will help you as you begin your path towards a career in marketing.

Responsibilities

The Marketing team promotes, strengthens, advocates for and protects the Ameriprise brand, business interests, reputation and local communities. We help advisors build their practices by providing programs and communications that help them acquire, retain and deepen relationships with clients.

As part of the Marketing team, the intern will be exposed to a broad range of marketing initiatives, along with the chance to gain direct experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Consumer marketing, insights and market segmentation
• Digital strategy and marketing including social media
• Client acquisition
• Advisor marketing support programs
• Marketing strategy and analytics
• Community relations

Required Qualifications

-Current Junior pursuing a major in marketing or a related field
-Excellent academic performance; a minimum of a 3.0 GPA
-0-1 years of relevant experience required
-Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated leadership which helps drive results
• Creative, strategic and flexible skill sets
• Interested in gaining broad marketing experience

• Proficient with Microsoft Office software
• Journalism, public relations and media relations coursework and/or experience is a plus
