Associate Analyst, Corporate Actions - Video Job Introduction Included

The Corporate Actions Associate Analyst is responsible for the daily tasks and oversight associated with researching, soliciting, and instructing on all voluntary corporate action events. The role will interact with many groups within the Fidelity organization and effectively represent the business to customers and business partners.

The Expertise We're Looking For

  • 3-5 years of financial services experience with an asset manager or custodian bank, preferably in mutual fund operations with exposure to Corporate Actions
  • 2 years of Corporate Actions experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree expected, but not required

The Purpose of Your Role

This team is responsible for all aspects of corporate action research and processing for assets across the approximately $2 trillion worth of assets under management, including actions cumulatively affecting securities worth in excess of $1 billion at a given time.

The Skills You Bring
  • You are proficient in the majority of functions within the area of corporate actions research and solicitation
  • Your working knowledge of the custody industry and mutual fund operations
  • Your understanding of processes used to scrub and instruct CA information using SWIFT
  • You have a strong working knowledge of system applications used in the department, including an ability to adapt to a changing technical environment
  • Your strong communication and analytical skills, both oral and written
  • Your attention to detail and ability to identify risk and escalate appropriately
  • Your ability to adapt based on business need and a changing operating environment

The Value You Deliver
  • Scrubbing voluntary corporate action data received through custodian banks, agents, and brokers
  • Transaction processing including escrow of holdings and foreign currency exchange
  • Effectively facilitating Portfolio Manager solicitations and custodian bank instruction
  • Ensuring all eligible funds lodge a voluntary CA election prior to deadline and escalating to the investment advisor as appropriate
  • Managing risk by monitoring custodian reports, internal exception reports, and keeping up to date statuses on internal control reporting
  • Facilitating the completion of legal documentation by finalizing documents based on feedback from multiple Legal departments, external issuers, and / or custodian banks
  • Assisting business partners with escalations and requests to expedite pending items
  • Analysis of prospectus' information relating to corporate actions and announcing appropriately
  • Working with managers, analysts, and team leaders to identify process improvements
  • Understanding the risk inherent in the process and identifying risk mitigation opportunities
  • Delivering effective written and verbal communication to appropriate business partners
  • Displaying leadership qualities to manage the daily workflow, and acting as a key mentor for junior analysts

How Your Work Impacts the Organization

The Global Middle Office acts as a servicing center for FMR Co.'s trading desks globally, facilitating the confirmation and settlement of security and currency transactions with brokers and custodian banks, and providing daily cash estimates to Trading.
