S&P Global is seeking an experienced analyst to join its Structured Finance Ratings group as an Associate in the Structured Credit practice. The practice provides credit ratings of structured products that are backed by pools of nontraditional assets.
The Associate Director will be an integral part of the analytical team, which is responsible for cash flow modeling and structural analysis in support of new issue ratings and surveillance of Nontraditional ABS transaction. The Associate Director will review documents, assess the credit profile of collateral pools, build financial models, and conduct cash flow analyses to stress test the structures and enhancement levels under various economic scenarios. The Associate Director will also participate in credit rating committees and interact with bankers, issuers and investors on analytical matters. Additional duties may include supporting research, criteria or other analytical activities.
The successful candidate will be a well-rounded individual who possesses strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, which are essential for engaging with market participants. They should also possess strong Excel skills, time management and project management capabilities.
The Associate's core responsibilities will center on cash flow and structural analysis of Nontraditional ABS and CLO transactions as follows:

  • Create financial models for various types of transactions. Perform cash flow analysis and synthesize results in a timely manner for rating committees.
  • Analyze cash flow characteristics of collateral pools. Review third-party model output and reconcile with cash flow results from internal models.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of legal and operating documents to ensure compliance with criteria and identify issues with the transaction structure. Provide comments to external parties.
  • Publish articles and deal transaction summaries.
  • Actively manage relationships with issuers, intermediaries and investors. Effectively communicate S&P's methodologies and procedures. Participate in client meetings.
  • Responsible for training others and helping them resolve difficult day-to-day analytical issues and problems.
  • On occasion travel to proximal locations to inspect and evaluate properties of interest.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and cash flow analysis.
  • Work on special projects as directed by the analytical team manager.
Required:
  • MBA, JD, or CFA degree with 5-7 years' experience in the financial services industry.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, financial models and financial data.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and their relationship to S&P Global products.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. C++, MATLAB, Python, or VBA) is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and solve non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team.
  • Diligent and intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed.
  • Have the ability to undertake rigorous analytical work and be proficient at writing analytical reports.
  • Possess the ability to think analytically; to collate information into reasoned arguments.
