Java Developer Team Lead - VP

Supervisory Dashboard (SD) platform is Morgan Stanley's key risk Indicator system for sales and trading supervisors globally. SD provides tight oversight and signoff over various forms of risk events originating globally across all of our businesses. SD collects key risk events from various systems and presents high risk items in a workspace customized for each supervisor and allows various signoff, analysis and reporting actions.

SD platform has been expanded to support unauthorized trading (UT) surveillance program. UT program seeks to build capability to detect and prevent potential unauthorized behavior before financial or reputational loss or regulatory consequences occur.

We are looking for a highly motivated lead developer to design, implement, enhance, and support various aspects of the system, including key new deliverables. The position will involve server side component development as well as client facing UI work. As a technical leader candidate will be responsible for solving technology problems of considerable scope and complexity and design application that can scale. As a lead, candidate will be responsible for mentoring junior developers and building relationship with our stake holders and business unit partners. Project work will span all phases of development from user interaction, requirements gathering, design, coding, performance testing, rollouts and production support.

SD/UT platform will have the following high level objectives:

  • Capture, build, connect and prioritize Key Risk Indicators originating from UT relevant controls (trading and non-trading) and supervisory controls from various platforms
  • Provide an integrated view into the overall risk coming from various KRIs and allow management to focus on high risk KRIs, users, desk etc.
  • Provide meaningful insight on anomalous behavior, trend and correlation across KRIs and traders
  • Present and visualize KRI and supervision data in an intuitive and user friendly way


Qualifications:

Tech/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with server side Java
  • Previous experience in leading a team
  • Scala
  • Spring framework
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and AngularJS or ReactJS
  • Experience with full software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of Relational and Object based databases
  • Object oriented analysis and design using common design patterns
  • Experience in using various testing strategies
  • Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
Good to have:
  • Apache Spark
  • Knowledge of Hive, Impala & Hadoop
  • Knowledge of big data analysis and machine learning concepts
  • Knowledge of fixed income and equities trading
