Market Risk Project Manager - Project Management New York - United States
The Market Risk Senior Project Manager manages projects related to market activity and liquidity risk management, and commits on delivering the result expected by the sponsor. This individual organizes and manages her/his project as efficiently as possible to provide high quality of delivery with respect of budget allocated and timeline expected. This person ensures that their project contributes to (internal/external) customer service quality, organization efficiency and processes enhancements. They ensure effective and transparent governance and escalate issues and risks at the right level and at the right moment.

  • Responsible for projects in Market Activities and Liquidity Management areas
  • Participate in the design of architecture changes in relation to IS strategy.
  • Use Project Management best practices: identify project scope, define project plan and workload, follow up and report regularly to projects sponsors (steering committee), escalate issues.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess, review processes by identifying strengths and weaknesses and suggest new work processes with a straight through processing approach (identify gains of productivity when possible).
  • Prepare, edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution respecting accounting, risk, broker dealer guidelines and users requirements).
  • Lead testing efforts, define test conditions, and develop accurate and complete test plans. Train users on new business applications, edit user's procedures.
  • Share a common methodology within the team concerning project management by using a similar approach, template documents, time-tracking. Propose enhancements.

  • Prior Work Experience:
  • Minimum of eight years' experience in project management and business analysis in Investment Banking, ideally having worked in Risk or led Risk sponsored projects
  • 5+ years of experience directly interfacing with business clients (front office, middle office) or in a risk team to comprehend and develop technical or user process solutions.
  • Experience working with global teams - support, infrastructure, development.

  • Education:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Certification and/or ITIL advanced expert certifications a plus

  • Environment
    Société Générale's Risks on Market Activities and Liquidity Management division(RMA) is responsible for independently overseeing market risk activities across all relevant scope areas of SGUS. They ensure that market risk exposures are managed effectively by defining key risk assessment and stress testing methodologies. RMA also conducts development of certain SGUS capital and economic models, such as Value-at-Risk models. RMA is also responsible for producing, certifying and reporting market activities metrics.

    Under RMA, the Metrics Monitoring Group(MMG) production and certification unit produces, certifies, consolidates and reports all market activities metrics (including regulatory metrics). Its core responsibilities focus on P&L, Income Attribution, Market and Counterparty Credit risk analysis as well as controlling and monitoring risk limits and follow-up on breaches. MMG is also responsible to design and implement target processes to face business and regulatory changes and to ensure proper deployment of digital transformation within RMA processes.
