Production Manager

The Role / Responsibilities:
The primary objective of this role is to manage a team of Production Associates in supporting the publication of Moody's research reports. The team's functions include formatting (text, tables and charts), troubleshooting, Analyst support (in person, via phone, email and web conference), publication and training on Moody's proprietary Content Management System. Additional support functions include formatting and publication of MS Word, Excel, PPT, HTML and other reports consistent with Moody's brand guidelines. Research reports will be produced for electronic distribution via Moody's website and email. This position is part of Corporate Services / Production Job Family. The working hours for this position are approximately 4:00 PM until midnight with occasional work on weekends. Direct reports will be located in New York and in the Asia Pacific region.

Functional Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities for this position include:
  • Daily management oversight of Moody's Production Operations in New York and Asia Pacific Region.
  • Active participation in supporting the publication of Moody's research: formatting, troubleshooting, publishing, training, etc.
  • Setting day-to-day work priorities to improve operating effectiveness, providing clear directions, and executing ad hoc deliverables within tight timeframes.
  • Manage new research product initiatives and requests through implementation.
  • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of data entered into Moody's research publishing systems.
  • Responsible for the enforcement of Moody's branding strategy.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, monthly auditing and reporting.
  • Management of all research publishing applications.
  • Test upcoming software enhancements and work with projects teams to find solutions.
  • Establish training program for all Production Associates and Analysts on research production related software applications and processes.
Establish formal documentation related to all research publishing procedures.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction
  • Building, motivating, mentoring, evaluating and maintaining the Production Department (New York second shift and Asia Pacific team).
  • Managing talents and developing career paths for each staff member.
  • Coordinate with other Production Managers to improve process and share best practices.
  • Works with analysts and Senior Management to resolve any Production performance issues which have not met customer expectations.
  • Regular feedback and updates to Production Senior management on current projects, initiatives and customer-service issues.
  • Works with business lines, Product Strategy, Product Management, Rating Communications and technical support teams to enhance existing products, procedures or develop new products.


Corporate Services / Production

Qualifications:
Minimum education and work experience required for position includes:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Computer Graphics, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years demonstrated experience managing a Production, Presentations or Graphics team, preferably with a focus on desktop publishing, typesetting, word processing, and/or graphic design.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working in a financial environment preferred.
  • Strong Project Management skills are very helpful.
  • Portfolio showing completed work and projects would be beneficial.

  • Exceptional skills in MS Office, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • The ability to work independently and in cross-functionally in a global team environment.
  • The ability to manage business issues and navigate/synthesize various viewpoints.
  • Independent thinking with the ability to prioritize and disseminate critical information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superb production and design skills and the demonstrated ability to create appealing designs through the use of complex layouts, graphic elements, color and textual styles as evidenced by work/design-related portfolios.
  • Willingness to learn and share information and skills
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines (sometimes measured in minutes) in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Proven experience adhering to web production standards.
  • Knowledge of HTML/XHTML (hand coding and use of text editor) and XML is beneficial
  • Knowledge of web standards and web accessibility issues and techniques is also beneficial
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and HTML. Knowledge of FileMaker Pro would be beneficial, but not a necessity.
