Position Description:


As a member of the Real Estate Investing Portfolio Management team, the position will play an integral role in the overall finance, reporting and operations for the North Haven Real Estate funds. Responsibilities will include serving as the central point of oversight and contact for the designated funds with a focus on analytical activities and risk management, liaising with the organization's investment teams, as well as internal legal, tax, risk, compliance and control functions, and overseeing the third party administrators and vendors. The role will participate in strategic business initiatives, support fund raising efforts, and drive special projects including reengineering processes and portfolio benchmarking exercise.

North Haven Real Estate Funds are closed-end private equity funds that acquire real estate and real estate-related assets. Its portfolios comprise all major asset classes and include equity investments in single assets, portfolios and real estate operating companies. Morgan Stanley has raised over $28 billion in capital across 12 funds since 1991. Our current active funds comprise global opportunistic strategy with exposure across Asia, Europe and the Americas, with $6.9 billion of global real estate assets under management across the series as of March 31, 2020.

Primary Responsibilities:

Fund management and reporting:
  • Review fund-level financial statements and investor-level partner capital statements
  • Limited Partnership Agreement management and compliance, including investment guidelines, fund and investor reporting requirements, carried interest and management fee calculations, as well as expense management
  • Coordinate / review Annual Investor Meeting and Advisory Committee materials
  • Responsible for coordination of quarterly valuation process and the review of the Valuation Committee materials
  • Responsible for timely review and compliance of regulatory reporting requirements

Investor services / fundraising support
  • Side letter management / compliance, including reporting and communication
  • Respond to diligence requests from prospective investors and support on-going investor queries and requests from existing investors in partnership with the third-party fund administrator, investor services and the COO office.
  • Review of track record and performance updates


Portfolio management:
  • Serve as contact for asset managers and senior portfolio managers on portfolio related inquiries, reviews and analysis
  • Coordinate with acquisition teams and third-party fund administrators to monitor/update acquisition pipeline

Liquidity monitoring:
  • Manage fund liquidity and credit facilities
  • Propose the amount and timing of investor capital calls/distributions, and obtain approval from Senior Management team

Team management
  • Motivate and coach the junior members of the team in the completion of various areas of responsibility and initiatives


Qualifications:

Skills/Experience/Education Required:


  • BA/BS required
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, accounting background a plus
  • 3+ years of Big 4 public accounting and/or transaction advisory experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a controller and/or portfolio management type position in the closed-end funds (ideally with the Real Estate fund managers)
  • Extensive experience in the construct and analytical review of the closed-end carried interest distribution model a plus
  • Strong capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in data analytics is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with different stakeholders in multiple regions globally
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks
