The Vice President, Retirement Marketing will be a critical member of the Retirement Marketing team, which focuses on client engagement, participant communications, product marketing and thought leadership to accelerate commercial growth. This person will collaborate closely with the Retirement Group as well as with partners across Marketing to create and distribute content which educates participants and establishes BlackRock as a thought leader in the retirement space with institutions, advisors and end investor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create an educational strategy for a new product, with a focus on simplifying complex concepts for retirement plan participants. This will include articulating the strategy, managing timelines and creating the necessary content including writing brochures, one pagers, webpages and video scripts.
  • Write content across a variety of mediums, optimizing for maximum relevance across key customer touchpoints. Mediums may include web articles, emails, social posts, video scripts, infographics, papers and decks, as examples.
  • Develop new and engaging ways to articulate our thought leadership and education in the market, for institutions, advisors and end investors.
  • Work directly with subject matter experts such as portfolio managers and researchers to transform technical insights into approachable and consumable formats.
  • Partner with colleagues in Retirement Marketing and on the Global Marketing content team to distribute content through owned and paid channels. Additionally, partner with clients and others across the ecosystem (insurance partners) to create effective content.
  • Lead production including content creation, layout in partnership with internal or external design agencies and Legal and Compliance reviews.
  • Take a data driven approach to content creation, using findings from past deliverables to inform new content.
  • Monitor ongoing retirement industry developments and stay on top of trends in content marketing. Continuously seek to improve BlackRock's strategy based on business objectives and client needs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, privacy, brand guidelines and policies.

Key Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7 years related experience in journalism, marketing and/or participant communications, with skillsets in content creation and distribution.
  • Must have proven success at writing short and long form content.
  • Series 7, 63 and 24 preferred.
  • Excellent written communication skills, and the ability to interface directly with internal and external partners and clients.
  • Experience working in the finance industry, in particular in the retirement space. Deep expertise and understanding of the defined contribution industry, target date funds, retirement insurance and/or annuities strongly preferred.
  • Background with content marketing and content partnerships encouraged, including an understanding of effective distribution channels.
  • Ability to work in an organized way in a high-energy, dynamic environment
  • Understanding of search engine optimization and how to write search-friendly copy
