Software Engineer - Infrastructure SRE

Digital Developer Services (DDS) delivers desktop and mobile technology solutions for our Digital community. As a member of our Infrastructure Engineering team, you will be responsible for installing, managing and maintaining infrastructure components that support these technologies. The candidate must be willing to work with a wide array of tasks that meet business demand. DDS is engineering for a future state where end users have an array of services that can be provisioned on demand - XaaS (Anything as a Service). You will also be required to communicate and present to varying levels of audiences including architects, developers and senior managers in the context of services offered, service reliability, stability, benchmarking and architecture. Additionally, you will research and evaluate emerging solutions, optimizations, enhancements, and make recommendations as well as execute on implementation of the recommendations.

This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Solid knowledge of technical architecture/infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 5 years operational software development experience. Particularly, in one or more of: C, C++, Java, Python.
  • Familiarity with WEB APIs and RESTful APIs, as well as micro services.
  • Working proficiency in developmental toolsets
  • Knowledge of Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud technologies.
  • Implementation and administration of containers using Docker, Kubernetes and Puppet, Chef and Ansible for CM automation.
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) in developing and improving automation to manage large environments.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Windows, Linux, and macOS system administration skills.
  • Apache Tomcat or IIS administration.
  • Experience in source code version including SVN, Bitbucket or GitHub.
  • Experience with VMware ESXi, running on Cisco UCS, HP or Dell hardware.
  • Experience with VMware product set including the VMware vRealize Suite (vRealize Automation, Operations Manager and Orchestrator).
  • Experience with Networking concepts (TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls, and Network Security).
  • Experience with Altassian product suite - JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence will be required.
