Title: Analyst, automotive electronics and semiconductors - infotainment, body and comfort electronics

Summary:
The automotive sector has become one of the most dynamic areas in the electronics industry. The demand for autonomous driving, low emission and electric cars, connected vehicles as well as more advanced infotainment systems and user interfaces is boosting innovation and electronics content.

IHS Markit is the leading market research company in the automotive electronics sector and is covering the entire automotive value chain from the semiconductor IC and sensor chip to major systems in the car.

To support the growth of its automotive electronics and semiconductor market research, IHS Markit has an open position for an analyst. The post will be embedded in an enthusiastic team of 6 analysts based in Munich and UK and USA. This team tracks automotive electronics applications and the semiconductor content in powertrain, chassis & safety, body & comfort and infotainment domains.

Specifically, the analyst will be responsible for maintaining and further developing IHS Markit's coverage of infotainment/telematics and body/comfort applications. The candidate will also help the team to track the overall demand, pricing, supplier ecosystem and technological trends affecting the semiconductor content in both today's and tomorrow's cars.

Roles and responsibilities:
Act as subject matter expert and "go-to" person for expert opinion on semiconductor in infotainment/telematics and body electronics. This will be achieved by producing original research and commentary on technologies, market volumes, pricing trends, market drivers and demand conditions, market participant shares and supplier agreements. The research product takes the form of periodic market databases and reports.
Update and further develop company market share and forecast for electronics components and systems.
Collaborate with other subject matter experts within IHS Markit to ensure timely, consistent and accurate flow of crucial thought-leading research on topics related to the area of focus. The analyst will work closely with the other semiconductor analysts but also with analysts covering automotive HMI, displays, infotainment/telematics as well as body/comfort electronics systems.
Contribute to consulting projects as required and as driven by business needs by working in collaboration with consulting project leaders, providing subject matter expertise in area of focus, and performing various activities to support delivery of high-quality client-specific projects.
Respond in a timely manner to clients' research-related inquiries of various complexity in area of focus by providing deep subject matter expertise and timely insight, utilizing resources and judgement to address questions, and/or refer questions to senior level staff.
Continuously develop expertise in area of focus and expand knowledge into related fields/disciplines by: actively contributing to above listed activities; pursing activities/work in various disciplines; staying abreast of current/hot topics; and contributing to written/published products.
Communicate with clients by phone, travel and make presentations to clients, and make presentations at conferences and public workshops.
Communicate with the press.

Required education: Graduate degree in electrical engineering

Required experience:
5 to 10+ years of experience in automotive electronics. Experience in infotainment and body/comfort electronics is an advantage.

Requires strong analytical skills.
Requires highly effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business to enable effective/productive communications with key people including senior level clients.
Demonstrable ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and ability to navigate and excel in a complex, heavily matrixed organization, and relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally.
Highly organized and creative with accomplished time and project management skills.
A keen attention to detail and highly effective organization and prioritization skills, including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced proficiency with MS Office applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with databases preferred.
Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.

Physical Requirements:
This position will operate under normal office conditions and will include moderate phone use and moderate to heavy computer use.
This position may be required to travel up to 15% for events, round tables (client workshops), client visits and other business-related needs.
Office location: Munich is the preferred location.
Any IHS office or home office in EMEA or USA is also possible.
