Sr. Specialist Developer / UI Developer

The position must be filled at this time to address the increasing demand for Wealth Management business solutions. We have several business critical initiatives for BPM / Operational Efficiencies that cannot effectively start or move forward due to the current staffing levels and high reliance on offshore development resources.


We are looking for a full stack developer with an increased focus on UI development to deliver a modern, intuitive and highly responsive UI experience to our clients for our current and next-generation product offerings.

Key Responsibilities include the following.
- Gathers and analyzes information and develops recommendations to address strategic business objectives
- Contributes to all phases of software development lifecycle (Agile and traditional methodologies)
- Provides guidance in development of the technical design, test plans, and user documentation
- Design, develop and execute plans for QA and User Acceptance Testing
- Provides Subject Matter Expertise for applications

  • Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support.
  • Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology.
  • Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications.
  • Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group.
  • Contributes to defining time tables and project plans.
  • Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
  • Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools.
  • Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • 8-10 years of experience in software development required
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

Must Have:
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Modern Javascript Libraries, with thorough knowledge and understanding of Angular JS and it's core principles and best practices
• Expertise in Angular is required
• Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile and desktop app responsive design
• Strong knowledge of Java 7+ and Spring Framework is required
• RESTful Services
• Experience in building large scale, high-performance systems
• Experience in building, documenting, and testing APIs
• Ability to rapidly deploy proof-of-concepts and to provide demos to larger team is required

Other Skills:
• Proficient with Databases and SQL query language
• Experience with BPM/workflow platforms
• Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, or equivalent)
• Experience in Financial Services industry a plus especially Wealth Management
• API design and development
• Deep understanding of OOP and modern J2EE design patterns
• Proficient with Database technologies like MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
• Ability to write clean code that is easily maintainable and extendable by everyone
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients
• Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism
• Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player
