Associate will support various tax reporting functions for Merrill Lynch Professional Clearing Corp (MLPRO) within Asset Services Tax Operations. Candidate will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the tax data within our internal systems. This tax data is utilized for the production of Form 1099's, Form 1042-S, and other reporting for our Prime Brokerage Clients. These activities include daily, weekly, monthly and annual reviews for tax withholding and reporting processes, understanding controls, and participating in reviews to provide consistent and accurate tax reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements to our Prime Brokerage Clients. Candidate is expected to assist the team with tax projects including system enhancements and new regulations. In addition perform the daily activities and be flexible in working the required hours, which may include some weekends and holidays. (Heavy volume periods - first and fourth quarter).

Responsibilities:

• Chapter 3 (NRA) and 4 (FATCA) Withholding
• Daily Tax Reconciliation of 1099/1042 Clients
• Daily Monitoring and Monthly Recon of US Tax Withholding & Non US Withholding Processes (i.e. Thai/Foreign Transaction Tax)
• Ad hoc daily, monthly, annual tax reporting tasks
• Withholding breaks & client static investigation and resolution
• Involvement in ad hoc projects for new processes or industry initiatives

Requirements:
• Reconciliation experience with intermediate or above MS Excel skillsets
• Attention to Detail
• Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
• Excellent communications and organization skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
• Ability to liaise with all levels of the firm and people with different experiences and backgrounds
• Previous experience within operations with particular focus on tax reporting
• Expected to perform the daily activities and be flexible in working the required hours
