Summary Under supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant II performs a variety of Bank accounting tasks in support of the Loans, Investment, Debt and Derivatives accounting department. Ideal candidate will have good understanding and experience in the general accounting cycle and the financial service industry. Candidate must be hard-working, proactive, and have the ability to work independently with little supervision while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Record general remittance, payoff, default, servicing advance and expense journal entries related to the mortgage and consumer loan portfolios
  • Support sub-ledger system (SBO) processing to ensure mortgage loan activities are properly recorded
  • Record journal entries for transactions in the cash and clearing accounts
  • Prepare reconciliations and analysis, and research / resolve open items
  • Prepare and review standard operating procedures
  • Interact with the Company's Credit and Treasury groups to resolve any differences, reconciling items, or documentation gaps
  • Prepare schedules and analysis for monthly/quarterly internal reporting, and provide assistance as needed for financial and regulatory audit requests
  • Support administrative tasks and department projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS

Basic

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required
  • 1 - 3 years of hands-on work experience in Accounting or related operational discipline required
  • Proficiency in MS Excel required; experience with Oracle, Hyperion, Business Objects preferred

Preferred

  • Experience with financial service companies a plus
