We are currently looking for a Product Operations Associate for our office in Berlin, with a focus on supporting our customers by making sure that their banking experience is as smooth as possible.
You'll be working in a team with Product Managers, Product Owners, Designers, Developers & other stakeholders to deliver value to our end-to-end business banking proposition on a daily basis. Value is driven by our customers.

About your new role:
Operations Management (70%)
    • You'll be in charge of setting up & improving necessary internal infrastructure (monitoring systems, proactive alerts, etc.) to identify operational bottlenecks before they occur
    • You'll be in charge of monitoring key KPIs with regards to payments, bank accounts & cards in order to detect positive trends, or flag anomalies and work towards their resolution with colleagues in the Product organization by formulating recommendations
    • You'll be in charge of monitoring & managing the card stock we hold with Mastercard and Visa as well as automating the re-ordering of new card stock
    • You'll be in charge of monitoring card activation rates and working on creative solutions to improve the card activation experience and delivery rates
    • You'll be in charge of making sure that paying with a Penta card is a smooth experience. This includes monitoring fraud numbers and working with our banking provider to improve products to reduce fraud rates
    • You'll be in charge of leading ad-hoc investigations (e.g SEPA/SWIFT payment) and bringing them to resolution by working closely with our banking partners. As you do so, you will cultivate an effective relationship with your counterparts in these organizations to ensure all parties work towards building a resilient payment engine
    • You'll be mapping internal & external dependencies with the goal to reduce vendor dependencies over time
    • You'll be in charge of documenting payment, card & bank account processes to educate other team members internally at Penta.
    Internal alignment (20%)
    • Close collaboration with our CRM team to decrease the amount of customer support tickets created throughout the user journey
    • You'll be in charge of proactively informing our CRM team about issues and keep them in the loop about the progress being made
    Product Management Support (10%)
    • Use your insights & learnings to support product managers and product owners in automating common queries & problems by for example providing clear recommendations

      What do we expect from you:

        • Our customers are not retail customers but SMEs with 1-100 employees who are the economic backbone of all European markets. For too long, they had to deal with clunky, intransparent banks and financial products. To change this unacceptable status quo, we at Penta need to be bold, ambitious and crazy every single day. And that's also what's expected from every single team member

        • Strong experience (3-4 years) within an operations role in the financial services industry
          • Preferably, you have prior experience in working in a Fintech/banking environment or in a company who was working together with other Fintech/Banking companies where a smooth payments process plays/played a key role in the product
          • You can easily adapt to learning the specifics of a regulated industry including fraud, risk and operational management
          Technical skills
          • You can easily understand APIs (REST, etc.)
          • You can clearly articulate your views based on data gathered by analyzing large internal / external datasets with Excel, SQL and tools such as Tableau
          • Tools like Jira and Confluence and usual office tools such as Excel and Powerpoint are part of your skillset
          Financial skills/knowledge
          • Knowledge of how the payments systems and/or cards schemes work
            • International payments experience as a plus
            Other Skills
            • Attention to detail.
            • Excellent written and verbal communication
            • Ability to manage multiple projects with high priorities at the same time
            • Ability to work within a team
