Finance Director for a private-equity backed out-of-home media company, Duesseldorf, Germany

Exciting opportunity to join a PE-backed out-of-home media company as Finance Director, based in Duesseldorf

Our client is a leading independent service provider in the growing market for out-of-home media. Their customers are advertising agencies and advertisers. As part of the growth strategy the group partnered with a successful private equity firm to boost sales activities along with an enhancement of their service offering in the areas of geo marketing, data analytics and digital product solutions. The group has approximately 70 employees in its headquarters in Duesseldorf and subsidiaries in Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg. They are looking for an ambitious Finance Director, who will be based in Duesseldorf. The role can develop into a CFO role in the medium term.


  • Setting up and leading a highly effective accounting and controlling function
  • Implementation and optimisation of the management information system and KPIs
  • Budget planning, regular target and actual performance analysis, forecasts, cost controls and adhoc analyses for the executive management and the shareholders
  • Coordination and preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Sparring partner for the sales department on all financial aspects
  • Set-up and continuous improvement and optimisation of finance processes
  • Treasury, cash management, liquidity planning and working capital management
  • Main point of contact for banks, auditors and the shareholder


  • An excellent business degree, ideally with a focus on business administration, finance, accounting or controlling
  • Significant relevant work experience in an accounting and controlling leadership role in a German Mittelstand company and / or audit background
  • Sector know-how is not a must but beneficial
  • Strong analytical skills, highly data-driven with an affinity for numbers
  • Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills, high energy level, proactive and accustomed to working independently
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set
  • Excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills
  • Native-level German language skills as well as fluency in English are requirements for this position
