Owing to the consistent growth of our funds management business, we are seeking a General Manager – Business to join our existing team. The successful new member will take ownership of the day to day leadership and management of the Talaria business platform.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: mitigation of all non-investment risk, managing company resources & costs and evolving the core business platform to support the investment, marketing & sales capabilities.

Once the successful applicant has assumed leadership of all financial, operational & compliance aspects of the existing business, there will be a significant opportunity to contribute to the setting of its strategic future.

POSITION

The business’s risk framework is centred upon tightly defined processes and continually evolving workflows - leveraging technology in combination with carefully selected external expertise to identify and resolve any risks in a transparent, robust & timely manner.

The successful candidate will be willing to work directly with and support the current team to resolve any sensitive issues as required yet retain the ‘bigger picture’ perspective to enable continuous improvement – evolving and adapting processes and resources to enhance the future of the business.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading the team while defining and delivering ongoing key innovations in line with our vision of running a best in class funds management business.

The successful candidate does not necessarily need explicit funds management experience.

Based in Melbourne the role would suit applicants looking to return home after gaining experience in a global financial hub.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial management and reporting including budget setting & adherence, company audited financial statement production, balance sheet management, board papers.
  • Tertiary qualifications with excellent academic credentials. Candidate will likely have postgraduate and/or professional qualifications (chartered accountant / engineer, qualified lawyer, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to articulate findings and/or set expectations thoroughly, yet concisely.
  • Likely 15+ years of experience preferably encompassing significant leadership and stakeholder management responsibilities.
