We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join a large and dynamic enterprise technology environment. This role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, support critical database infrastructure, and contribute to strategic technology initiatives within a complex and highly available production environment.As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, availability, and scalability of enterprise-class Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server platforms while mentoring technical colleagues and driving continuous improvement across the database ecosystem.
Your new role
Reporting to the relevant ICT leadership team, you will be responsible for:
- Providing technical leadership in the specification and design of database and infrastructure solutions.
- Leading and contributing to technology projects and strategic initiatives.
- Mentoring and guiding team members through complex technical challenges.
- Maintaining high availability and optimal performance of enterprise databases and associated services.
- Diagnosing and resolving complex database and infrastructure issues.
- Planning and implementing service continuity and disaster recovery measures.
- Leading capacity planning activities and recommending infrastructure improvements.
- Ensuring database security, integrity, and compliance through proactive monitoring and management.
- Defining, documenting, and maintaining technical standards, protocols, and operational procedures.
- Providing expert technical advice to management and business stakeholders.
- Evaluating technology implementations and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Building strong collaborative relationships across ICT and business teams.
- Supporting IT Operations, Solutions Development, and IT Support frameworks and toolsets.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience planning, implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise-class Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Strong experience supporting large-scale production environments.
- Proven expertise in capacity management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and service continuity planning.
- Demonstrated project management experience with a structured approach to analysis, design, and delivery.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to team members.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of current and emerging database technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
