Experience / Education

  1. University Degree qualified
  2. Background from either an International Bank, Top 4x Chartered Accounting firm or Consulting firm
  3. Minimum 5 years in Credit Risk Management / Audit / Financial Services Consulting

Skills

  • Deep understanding of credit risk & ability to evaluate credit risk
  • Perform ratio analysis and support assessment with qualitative factors for counterparty credit risk assessment
  • Ability to interpret financial statements, demonstrate serviceability analysis & assess gearing levels
  • Ability to provide liquidation analysis, determine appropriate financial covenants, measure current & potential credit / market risk(s)
  • Conduct credit portfolio risk assessment , ability to raise early warning red flags to management
  • The ability to work cohesively in a small team, show patience, and ensure attention to detail
  • Ability to assist the advisors structure lending transactions & advise on credit documentation required
  • Strong people management skills. Able to effectively assess & communicate favourable & unfavourable risks / exposures to various stakeholders
  • Excel, Powerpoint skills (superior to advanced), Bloomberg (preferable)

  • Mortgage & Margin Lending, Bank Guarantees, Foreign Exchange, Structured Derivatives / Options

Summary Responsibilities

CREDIT RISK (CREDIT CONTROL)

  1. Undertake Credit Evaluation, risk analysis, processing new credit applications (40%)
  2. Lead the Credit Control function, authorizing / approving facility limits in core banking system (Independent control function)(15%)
  3. Lead the compliance with Risk Monitoring & Control framework (20%)
  4. Preparation of various Risk & Management Reports (10%)
  5. Assist with product, operations & systems project work incorporating Strategy Development & Implementation / Execution of approved credit risk projects (10%)
  6. Assist with Internal Audit & Regulatory reviews (5%)

Responsibilities (Detailed)

1. Credit Evaluation

  • Evaluate, recommend & process credit applications, according to the various local, regional & global credit risk policies
  • Assess counterparty risk, transaction risk, market risk, currency risk, derivatives risk
  • Asses the client risk class, recovery rates & transactional risks classes
  • Determine acceptable risk appetite with CS credit risk policy and exceptional cases for approval
  • Ensure credit request is approved within correct competency
  • Complete credit / settlement checklists
  • Preparation of facility offer letters for execution
  • Responsible for assessment of counterparty ratings, risk recovery & transaction risk classes

2. Credit Control / Credit Policies

  • Checking & authorisation of the Credit Limits & Security details, expiry dates in the core banking system
  • Review & sign off perfection of security documentation, ensuring all compliance requirements are met
  • Ensuring all conditions precedents are satisfied
  • Marking all conditions subsequents in the risk monitoring spreadsheets
  • Authorize the first outward draw down of facilities by the client & loan rollovers
  • Ensure Standard & Explicit LTV’s are approved & logged on the Australian credit platform
  • Checking LTV’s & authorising LTV amendments in core banking system
  • Ensuring exceptions are highlighted & approved by relevant authority
  • Ensure the Bank has a streamlined suite of lending documentation that is aligned with product parameters & regulatory frameworks
  • Ensure that are all lending / credit documentation is enhanced to best practice, benchmarked against the local market participants
  • Draft and submit revised credit policies / directives for approval
  • Implement local credit policies based on Head Office & Regional credit policies
  • Identify potential risks and escalate ‘control’ improvement initiatives, risk systems, and performance enhancements to line manager, Head of CRM PB APAC

3. Risk Monitoring & Controls

  • Check & approve daily risk positions via Risk Monitoring platform
  • Discuss excess & collateral value shortfall cases with the various advisors and agree rectification plan
  • Assess any significant collateral shortfalls, covenant breaches and agree solution with Head of CRM AU
  • Raise & issue any top up notices to the various advisors, implement top up / close out process
  • Ensure the risk monitoring client spreadsheets are completed, via Bloomberg, approved & filed
  • Ensure compliance with approved credit risk processes
  • Work with external Panel Solicitors, Operations, Business Risk, Formalities & Legal Compliance Division to ensure no gaps in risk execution framework
  • Review & update process flow framework & procedures manual for CRM AU
  • Follow up for pending documents, ensure no pending > 60 days
  • Work with Formalities team, for handling of credit documents.
  • Engage Legal and Compliance team to ensure compliance with Credit Risk approvals & to address any legal or documentary issues;

4. Preparation of various Risk & Management Reports

  • To prepare and present various Credit Risk reports for AU, APAC, Zurich
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to Regional Head Office in Singapore
  • Support Financial Accounting / CFO division with required data from CRM PB clients

5. Assist with product, operations & systems strategy development, including business case & business requirements development & onshore project execution / implementation

  • Assist with the development / consideration of new lending products and design marketing materials & systems tools to support new lending product sales.
  • Review RM demand for new lending products & create necessary business case for new product approval
  • Arrange workshops to develop and agree product business requirements and system enhancements / requirements to support new lending products
  • Support local management, country management in other strategic projects / functions / IT testing, as required
  • Assist with the development of education / training sessions in Credit Risk & Lending for Relationship Managers & Assistant Relationship Managers and new members of the Front Office staff.
  • Support head office (Zurich) & regional office (Singapore) project implementation
  • Work with various stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategy and implementation of requirements

6. Assist with Internal Audit & Regulatory reviews

  • Participate in internal and external audit review process
  • Generating reports to meet the requirements of internal and external auditors;
  • Preparation of presentations for local regulatory reviews (ASIC / APRA)
