The Business Unit
Enterprise Services (ES) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

The Team
Within Enterprise Services, the Chief Data Office (CDO) is accountable for leading the Group data agenda by ensuring we build, consume and protect the best data assets to maximize customer experience and rebuild trust. The Chief Data Office is accountable for data strategy, data transformation programs, data governance and remediation programs of work, Privacy program as well as delivery of $100m projects within the A&I remit.

The Role
To ensure the Group achieves sustainable competitive advantage through data & analytics, you will need to play a key role in supporting the CDO to execute the Groups data strategy.

Specifically, you will be focused on developing world class engineering services and people capability to provide support in delivery to the CDO teams, engaging senior technical stakeholders across ES and influencing the business teams to ensure alignment to the strategy and its successful execution.

This will include sound knowledge of the Groups data strategy, architecture and technology roadmap, aligning business needs and ensuring appropriate service levels of the CDO technology services.

You will support the build and run of the systems that underpin our data and analytics capabilities for the Group, with a focus on user experience, cost, availability and security. This will include developing and growing a world class engineering teams that will support the delivery of large-scale data programs.

The Requirements
An influential leader with a track record in mentoring, developing and inspiring a high performing team you will have a history of promoting an inclusive culture where colleagues are engaged and that they feel proud to be part of.

You will bring previous experience in developing and setting engineering standards and templates that enables 500+ engineers (data & systems engineers) across the CDO run and change teams to operate in a productive and low-risk manner.

Moving our engineering teams toward continuous integration and delivery as well as established common practices across all engineering teams you will be able to demonstrate your approach to reduce the unit cost of data storage and processing though optimisation of our existing systems and integration of new technologies. Specifically driving the adoption of open source software, commodity infrastructure and cloud to support these objectives.

A strategic thinker with proven ability to create clear future focused plans you will possess demonstrable Executive level stakeholder management skills will be required to enable the promotion of your team's ideas, management of conflicting priorities and challenging of other where appropriate, facilitating and gaining consensus through those interactions.
