Finance Data Analyst

This leading NSW Government Department is seeking to engage a Finance Data Analyst. You will provide detailed data extraction and data analysis for the Operating and Capital Expenditure framework, including detailed expenditure variance analysis and reviews.

Key Accountabilities

  • Produce data extracts and reports
  • Performs quality assurance for data integrity and accuracy
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies and anomalies in the data and possible causes
  • Condense information and transform technical data into easily understandable outputs
  • Business analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modelling and data mining
  • Develop appropriate business test cases, validate results to ensure minimal risk and zero-defect solutions are developed to meet the needs of the business

About You
  • Strong experience with SQL
  • Strong experience with SAP Financials, HR and Payroll
  • Strong Excel experience
  • Have hands on experience of handling vast amounts of data
  • Develop raw data reports as needed ensuring appropriately tested and fit-for-purpose
  • Experience in dealing with large sums of data extraction and manipulation from source systems
  • Ability to deep dive for data dissemination and data analysis to understand the quality of Expenditure data (OPEX & CAPEX), etc and interpret results.
  • Ability to identify the root causes of poor-quality data and recommend controls to rectify the issues to improve the quality of expenditure data.
