Legal Entity Controller III -Forecasting and Budgeting

The Legal Entity (LE) Controller III is required to understand the business and related accounting flows of the entity for which he/she is responsible, maintaining the control environment (including reconciliations) and providing high quality reporting to the stakeholders. Through this understanding

he/she will be effective in carrying out their duties. This individual would be responsible for a group of

legal entities such as BNYM SA/NV or other Belgian entities group as well as supervising a team of

more junior legal entitiy controllers.

This role is accountable for ensuring the Regional and Global Shared Services Centers (RSSCs and

GSCC) deliver; through effective, efficient Sarbanes-Oxley and regulatory compliant finance/accounting processes in accordance with local and consolidated GAAP; useable, complete, accurate and timely financial information from the point of transaction through to financial close (period, quarter, and annual) for a specific legal entity. This individual will monitor the outcomes of all accounting/forecasting processes and transform data into information for reporting purposes, to assure all legal entity requirements have been met for regulatory compliance and reporting purposes. The LE controller III will provide insight and guidance to the SSCs related to events and transactions which have occurred throughout the period specific to their LE and assure all accounting/forecasting and finance related transactions recorded accurately reflect the business operations for their assigned shared service centers.

The LE Controller III is responsible for providing in depth accounting and regulatory expertise (both local and consolidated) to ensure the general ledger account balances and trial balances for their assigned legal entity are complete, accurate and reflect the correct application of the relevant accounting and CAP. If applicable, s/he will maintain relationships with the LE board of directors and regulators to assure their questions are answered and needs are met. S/he will also provide insight as required in periodic presentations to the LE board.

This individual will provide the Finance Record to Report (R2R) global process owners (GPOs) insight to their respective legal entity regulatory and statutory requirements to support the design, build, and

implementation of common end-state financial and accounting processes. This individual will participate in exception management and continuous improvement activities specific to their legal entity, as a part of his/her day to day compliance and oversight accountabilities in accordance with the global, regional, and country specific R2R process standards.

As an individual and team contributor, the LE Controller III will work closely with their respective Regional and/or Country Controller to review and vet any new proposed process enhancement documentation and training content, and provide statutory and regulatory guidance and support as requested for special projects and Finance's continuous improvement work efforts.

Responsibilities:



LE Budgeting and forecasting - Reviews LE forecast and budget produced out of LE forecasting team in Regional center of excellence (Manchester) - partner and work with that team to refine assumptions and scenarios to properly reflect expected results of the legal entities under controls. Work on LE forecast/Budget for entities not yet in scope by LE forecasting Team. Monitor budget/Forecast evolution versus actuals, provide in depth analysis on discrepancies and propose/review alternatives/solutions with local management.

LOB analysis - Coordinate with LE controllers and decision support staff to refine the analysis within Legal Entities at LOB level. Coordinate analysis and input and review within the different LE's pack to

support senior management. Help to make the link between the business and the LE by refining the business line input at LE level.

ChartFields Usage Owner - Review and standardize ChartFields usage (including GL and center) in the entities in scope and related branches or subsidiaries. Harmonize usage across entities, develop appropriate documentation and implement governance in coordination with direct manager, Head of LE Control and Accounting



Communication - has excellent presentation skills and is able to instil confidence in senior leadership,

and entity Boards. Ability to 'tell a story' and transform numbers into insightful financial information.

Controls - ensures that control framework is appropriate for the entity's reporting and that the monthly

processes perform as required.

Advisory - uses deep understanding of the business and operations and excellent accounting technical skills to provide guidance and advice related to the impact of business or organizational developments on the legal entity. Providing financial input into business development projects and support the Business in financial modeling (cost / benefit analysis P&L, B/S) of new business opportunities

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant/University Degree in finance or economics

• Experience: At least 8 years of experience in Finance. Experience in big 4/banking sector is a plus. Strong accounting/controlling experience in a complex global environment with relevant controllership experience in the banking business (eg. Asset mgmt, banking, etc) and demonstrated exposure in controller function with a working knowledge of IFRS/US Gaap/BEGAAP. Audit experience within big 4 is a plus. Experience in forecasting and budgeting is a plus.

• Change Management skills - looking to improve change/current process be innovative and open to change.

• Excellent communicator - Adapt content and communication of the message depending on the audience.

• Fluency in English, French/Dutch is an asset.
