The Human Resources Director drives Human Resources Strategy and Operations within the company to maximize employee engagement & retention, organisational efficiency and growth. She/he will oversee human resources and compliance activities across our sites in China. Shanghai/Hanzhou based with some business travel required

Job Functions

  • Reporting to, working with and supporting the CEO Pepper China with the strategic people management plan aligned to the overall business objectives
  • Organisational design and planning to support the current and future Joint Venture business including but not limited to defining workflow, policy and processes, job architecture, secondments arrangements and change management processes
  • Coordinating recruitment activity including management of vendors/agencies drafting job descriptions, advertising, interview scheduling for the hiring panel, conducting interviews, selection and managing the feedback process
  • Utilising benchmarking methodologies to attract talent to the organization, determine and negotiating suitable remuneration package with candidate, delivering offers and employee documentation 
  • Onboarding talent to the company and delivering on orientation plans
  • Managing talent, succession planning, identifying training and development opportunities
  • Oversight and facilitation of ongoing employee performance management and annual review process
  • Developing and maintaining best practice HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment legislation across our locations 
  • Advise managers and employees on Human Resources issues including but not limited to; performance, disciplinary, grievances, exits and change management
  • Maintain HR records and data with a view of also owning the identification and implementation of systems for a scalable HR function 
  • Present and provide HR functional update at management meetings
  • Coordinate and schedule company meetings and events

Personal quality 

  • Knowledge of, or exposure to the China Non-Performing Loans or Asset Management market 
  • At ease working in a Joint Venture structure, with multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Confident collaboration with our Joint Venture partner, Pepper Global and international colleagues
  • Able to operate in a multicultural environment 
  • This is an individual contributor role managing all aspects of Human Resources from strategy to administration, the ideal candidate will be comfortable with a high level of autonomy at work, yet with profound team-spirit 
  • Adaptable, patient, resilient and flexible 
  • Pro-active and solution oriented with the ability to prioritise and influence
  • Responsive to requests coming from multiple stakeholders

Skills and Education 

  • Tertiary education in Human Resources or relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of local HR practices and relevant laws across China
  • Overall business acumen and the ability to operate at a leadership team level
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English
