RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
Asian Special Situations Group (ASSG) specializes in the investment and management of a diverse portfolio of asset classes including private and public equities, structured finance, high yield / distressed credits, NPL portfolios and real estate. The successful applicant will be a member of the China deal team evaluating investments across Greater China. The role mainly consists of underwriting non-performing loans and their underlying collaterals, as well as execution of NPL transactions. You will also be responsible for legal due diligence, communication with external counsel and internal legal team and post-closing resolution execution and, and contribute to the broader investment strategy within the group. The applicant must be able to interact with other members of the team, consultants, external legal counsel and appraisers, manage due diligence efforts and have the ability to extract information from a variety of sources.

  • Performing legal due diligence on NPL borrowers and collaterals
  • Communication with external counsel and internal legal team
  • Working closely with senior members of the team in recommending investment decisions
  • Interface with NPL sellers, servicers and other external parties as necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in law
  • 2-3 year experience with a reputable law firm
  • Strong knowledge of onshore litigation/enforcement procedures and banking loan business a must
  • Prior investing and/or markets experience
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible to requests and deadlines
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English (both written and spoken)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Extensive traveling should be expected
  • Collateral valuation skills and financial modeling with high proficiency in Excel a plus
