The VP – Trade Finance will work closely with multiple teams across the Caravel Group to manage the commodity trade finance operations across APAC. Using financial instruments to facilitate international trade and commerce combined with reducing risk associated with global trade by reconciling the differing needs of importers/exporters. Candidates must have 10+ years of experience in Trade Finance with an investment management firm and/or investment bank. Candidates must be comfortable working independently and effectively to ensure the smooth execution of Trade Finance operations.

Responsibilities:

Managing global commodity trade finance operations for Iron Ore and Coal trading activities, working closely with Trading Teams, Traffic and Risk Management
Liaising with commodity trade finance banks for day-to-day operational matters, in conjunction with Traffic team
Helping manage relationships with commodity trade finance bankers
Helping to raise commodity trade finance bank lines – permanent, and ad-hoc

Experience/Skills

10 years plus of relevant experience, ideally gained on the buy-side, with hedge funds being preferred
Experience handling full sets of accounts, consolidated profit & loss, balance sheet, financial statements, month-end closing and ad hoc reports
Experience ensuring compliance with legal, corporate governance, and regulatory requirements in Hong Kong and overseas countries
Familiar with physical and derivatives commodity markets.
Strong Excel skills (for financial modelling, forecasting, data analysis and charting).
