As a key contributor you will assist the team to implement the Group Digital Underwriting Strategy across the region to ensure alignment to our common vision and goals. Fundamental to this is driving underwriting innovation through data insights and enabled through key technology to digitise the end to end process to create a modern and refreshed underwriting experience which will enrich the customer journey and contribute significantly to our vision to change the way people feel about insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with key stakeholders, understand the current state of the  sales to policy issuance  process  (for each channel of distribution) within each business from the customer journey perspective and  internal stakeholders perspective and design the future state sales to policy issuance process 
  • Design market leading intelligent underwriting questions and rules to support the implementation of automated underwriting  technology into the companies businesses, ensuring  consistency  and  alignment  to our digital underwriting strategy and with seamless integration into the sales to policy issuance future state process
  • Work closely with Digital, Technology and Data Scientist teams to identify how to further improve the underwriting  process  by  leveraging  off  key  technology  trends  such  as  AI and Machine Learning and utilizing predictive data models 
  • Establish a governance process for oversight and transparency to manage rule change control for consistent application of automated rules across the companies businesses 
  • Collaborate with external parties and internal stakeholders and other key functions to ensure clear alignment to achieve the optimal solution
  • Develop a post launch improvement plan for the businesses and play a key supporting role to help them achieve the desired underwriting maturity level
  • Set up and regularly report on key underwriting performance metrics at the Group and Country levels to ensure full transparency and identification of trends for more effective management
  • Conduct regular data analysis to identify opportunities to optimize underwriting rules and overall process
  • Train key staff within business units to facilitate knowledge and skill transfer where appropriate
  • Support the Group Underwriting and Claim team to set up and enhance  new business, underwriting and  claim processes and procedures for all businesses operations as required

Who we are looking for 

  • Bachelor degree in relevant field
  • 6 to 8 years working experience in life and health  underwriting and sound understanding of the overall sales to policy issuance process
  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in electronic underwriting rules design based on best practice methodology is preferred
  • International, cross divisional or regional underwriting experience in multi-channel environment  or reinsurance experience 
  • Be familiar with automated underwriting rules engines,  claim systems and new emerging technology which can improve the process e.g. RPA, AI, machine learning etc.
  • Strong relationship building and management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills 
  • Fluency in English
  • Willing to travel
