The main purpose of this role is to act as the Responsible Officer and Manager-In-Charge of the Asia Quantitative Research Team. This person will have senior management responsibilities in supervising the Type 4 (Advising on Securities) regulated activity and also responsible for analysing financial data to build new investment strategies; create short-horizon trading strategies; develop creative client solutions; and monitor portfolio performance and risk for clients. He/She will be the key point of Research contact in Asia and main liaison officer with Global Head of Research and global Cantor Research teams.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise the day-to-day Quantitative Research function in delivering high quality research production and reports
  • Ownership of analyst attribution and development of analysts – recruitment, hiring and training
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis using tradition and advanced methods in the finance industry
  • Lead relevant data projects that enhance depth of research capabilities
  • Coordinate with global research management to develop, implement and continually ensure best in class research processes and tools are being utilized across the Asia Research team
  • Formulate, review and maintain the research procedures manual and policy

Skills / experience required:

  • A current SFC Type 4 Responsible Officer license holder
  • At least 5 years or more of previous experience in quantitative analytic production, preferably in Asian markets
  • Outstanding abilities in mathematics, statistics, data mining and data-intensive analysis
  • Strong computer programming skills, including object-oriented programming and familiarity with programming languages such as C++/Python, FactSet, Bloomberg and VBA
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Finance, or other relevant scientific field (MS or PhD Degree Preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written

Personal attributes & preferred systems used:

  • Knowledge of research publication systems advantageous (e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters, Blue Matrix etc.)
  • Excellent PC skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present technical information and influence decision making at senior management level.
  • Highly motivated and strong work ethic;
  • Proactive self-starter, with proven ability to and bring deals to completion;
  • Sound business judgment, problem solving and commercial instincts
