Financial Crime Risk is a Global Function that brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at HSBC and is dedicated to implementing the most effective global standards to combat financial crime. The function has been set up in a way that enables us to build on our achievements in managing financial crime risk effectively across the bank and continue to strengthen financial crime detection, anti-money laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption compliance.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of Transaction Monitoring Hong Kong.

Principal responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining the regional strategic direction for Transaction Monitoring, closely following the Global and Regional TM Strategy
  • Roll out of Global TM Strategy in the local entity
  • Provide appropriate Anti Money Laundering SME expertise, with support from the regional TM team, regional Group Risk Analytics and Transformation Team, with specific focus on assessing Money Laundering risks related to TM as a key control
  • Deploy and run the Target Operating Model for the Financial Crime Compliance TM function in the Country with focus on large-scale change in the interim
  • Build and influence existing framework impact from any changes to existing TM capability or the introduction of new TM capabilities, forming a recommendation for sign off by the Regional and Global
  • Support the Local Data Governance or Remediation team in ensuring that the data quality for the identified critical data elements impacting TM is improved and complete
  • Responsible for the local governance of TM control framework, ensuring that proposed changes or new TM capabilities, support the overall AML goals and enhance the ability to deter, detect and protect against Financial crime risks
  • Drive the TM Risk Assessment process in the Country
  • Provide guidance to AML and FCC Senior Leadership team and other related FCC functions in supporting TM activity


Qualifications
Requirements
  • Seasoned professional with direct experience of AML
  • Extensive working knowledge of all aspects of TM controls at strategic and operational level gained within large financial banks
  • Strong understanding of how TM control mitigates FCC Risk and the various underpinning activities forming the TM programme
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills, inter-personal skills and dealing with executives at all levels
  • Proven ability to confidently work with and influence senior stakeholders and business sponsors.
  • Proven ability to work across lines of business and regions whilst maintaining a global perspective
  • Very strong analytical, decision-making, lateral thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to identify links between programmes of work
  • Strong leadership skills to influence and motivate staff
