LEAD BUSINESS ANALYST

Roles & Responsibilities:
Strong business analysis background with work experience in life insurance industry. The candidate shall have ability to lead and manage a team of 4-5 business analysts in a highly cross functional team. Candidate is also expected to be an individual contributor and be productive with hands on work.
  • Responsible to oversee and manage all Business Analyst activities for a major integration program
  • Plan, support and manage work for a team of 4-5 business analysts distributed across multiple locations
  • Lead and drive important requirement sessions and workshops with business teams
  • Guide and mentor business analysts to plan requirement gathering activities/approach and achieve expected outcomes
  • Ensure the requirements captured are consistent across multiple workstreams
  • Support project manager and scrum master to plan releases and sprints. Identify dependencies between systems, requirements and sprint outcomes
  • Help testing team to define a minimum viable scope across multiple systems that can be tested incrementally
  • Work with business leads to plan for business team resource allocation and gather support needed for the project
  • Ensure change requests are very minimum during later testing phases by ensuring coverage during initial scoping and requirement stages
  • Expected to perform hands on work for some critical and complex requirements
    • Gather requirement from various insurance business teams such as operations, distribution, marketing, products, and risk & compliance.
    • Understand agent journey and user journey of digital solution and map it to user requirements
    • Perform analysis to identify gaps in user requirements against existing product/solution features
    • Work with architects and development leads to validate requirements and perform technical feasibility
    • Prepare user stories. Work with product owner for prioritizing user stories. Ensure requirements meet the project objectives and outcomes.
    • Understand interdependencies between other projects and initiatives to plan and refine requirements
    • Support developers - communicate effectively so development and IT teams understand the requirements
    • Clarify queries from development teams and vendors.
    • Co-ordinate across multiple parties within project team such as development teams, architects, design team, business SMEs, sponsor, testers, third party suppliers and infrastructure team to ensure the business needs are captured, communicated and developed to effectively meet the expected business benefits.
    • Identify risks and work with project managers to mitigate them.
  • Support SIT: Work with test lead to plan and provide the following support by business analysts
    • Review test cases
    • Review Defects
    • Liaise with business on gap found in SIT
    • Discuss with product owner on priority of gaps
    • Support developer to fix defects
  • Support UAT: Work with business lead to plan and provide the following support by business analysts
    • Review test cases and test plan
    • Review Defects
    • Liaise with business on gap found in SIT
    • Discuss with product owner on priority of gaps
    • Support developer to fix defects
  • Support User Training
    • Help business for training
    • Liaise with business on new requirements
    • Discuss with product owner on priority of gaps
    • Support developer for development
  • Work with business leads to plan and implement change management activities
    • Experience & Competencies
  • Excellent knowledge of life insurance business processes*, team structure, tools and technologies used in Agency, New Business and Underwriting areas
  • Experience working in building or maintaining or integrating with insurance policy admin systems*
  • Work experience and broad knowledge of digital applications and backend systems in an insurance organization
  • Experience leading or managing a team of business analysts
  • Good knowledge of life insurance products* - eligibility criteria, premium/charges, benefits, etc.
  • Proven experience of multi-vendor environment and cross functional teams
  • Expert knowledge of complex and interdependent projects and continuous improvement methodologies, techniques, tools and controls
  • Broad knowledge of all aspects of the systems/software development lifecycle (including Agile*)
