Financial Crime Risk is a Global Function that brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at HSBC and is dedicated to implementing the most effective global standards to combat financial crime. The function has been set up in a way that enables us to build on our achievements in managing financial crime risk effectively across the bank and continue to strengthen financial crime detection, anti-money laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption compliance.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Manager, Financial Crime Compliance, Insurance.

Principal responsibilities

  • This role reports to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance Insurance Asia Pacific, and assists on day to day basis in managing Financial Crime Compliance related risks and proactive projects for the Hong Kong insurance business in order to ensure the effectiveness of the Sanctions, Anti Bribery and Corruption framework.
  • Assisting Financial Crime Compliance Insurance Head to discharge the accountabilities as set out in the Compliance Officer Handbook by proactively assisting management in identifying and containing anti money laundering, Sanctions and Anti Bribery and Corruption related compliance risk, monitoring, reporting and certification, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
  • Assisting Financial Crime Compliance Insurance Asia Pacific Head to implement any changes of regulatory or Group's requirements including, but not limited to, drafting or updating relevant manuals, policies and procedures, providing constructive advice and sound solutions and guidance to support management in their responsibility of complying relevant regulations or Group's requirements in relation to containing anti money laundering, Sanctions and Anti Bribery and Corruption
  • Manage Financial Crime Compliance related projects as assigned by the Financial Crime Compliance Insurance Head from time to time, and liaise with respective business units on project implementation.
  • Successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required

  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements and challenges faced by the insurance business
  • Good understanding of internal Group policies and standards, and industry and market practices
  • Working closely with the business units and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the deployment of projects are implemented within the pre-set timescales and all issues are highlighted and addressed on a timely basis.
  • Expected to work independently, providing guidance and working closely with the business units and all relevant Compliance teams within the Group for insurance matters and for compliance risk assessment, conducting monitoring reviews and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, ability to work independently and as a team in performing the role.
  • Ability to provide practical solutions and balancing compliance and business risks in providing compliance advice.
