This opportunity is to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a new team based in Hong Kong. This team will be the focal point for internal stakeholders across a number of Global Business Operation services, acting as first and last contact, performing e2e impact assessments across GBO.

Department Description

This opportunity is to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a new team based in Hong Kong. This team will be the focal point for internal stakeholders across a number of Global Business Operation services, acting as first and last contact, performing e2e impact assessments across GBO.

Primarily, but not exclusively, this team will be the Centre of Excellence for the following major GBO business activities;

  • Product - impact assessment, launches, closures
  • Accounts - impact assessment, launches, closures
  • Markets - Due diligence coordination for new and existing investment markets
  • Institutional - On-boarding of new clients
  • Institutional service delivery

Purpose of the Role

The team will be known for its knowledge of GBO functions, co-operative attitude and inclusion of all relevant parties to ensure full e2e impact assessment and understanding of risks and benefits across the business.

Your role will be the SME for Institutional On-Boarding, products, account & market impact assessment, launches & closures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the experienced, knowledge advisor for the team on all Institutional custodian related matters
  • Take the lead on more complex initiatives handled by the team for your areas.
  • Institutional take on management, responsible for co-ordination and negotiation of operational activity relating to Institutional funds.
  • Co-ordinating the implementation of new Institutional client mandates
  • Maintain the Service Level Agreement between the Institutional business and GBO
  • Contribute to the GBO institutional service delivery program, ensuring that the agreed objectives for Service Delivery and satisfaction are achieved.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of Institutional RFP and Due Diligence requests
  • Support/host Client and Consultant visits for the purpose of RFP's, DDQ's or new business activity
  • Work with front & back office teams to develop bespoke and customised service solutions, where required.
  • Act as Liaison with front and back office for service changes, improvement and escalations.
  • Work with the Custodian Relationship Team to develop and establish relationships with new institutional custodians.
  • Review and negotiate service, legal and operating agreements relating to Institutional activity.
  • As well as the day to day project management of the operational aspects of client implementations, you will be required to Chair meetings to lead complex on-boarding activities, review and evaluate legal and operating agreements in order to understand and arrange operational support Requirements. Act as a point of contact for Institutional client enquiries, many of which are time critical
  • Service Governance; conduct monthly service meetings with the Institutional business to review Institutional Fund activity, on-going issues, service, GBO initiatives and Institutional business updates
  • Forge strong relationships with internal stakeholders enabling the anticipation of requirements and the ability to balance multiple, often conflicting priorities
  • Represent the team as required, both internally and externally.
  • Hold operational responsibility for all decisions and outcomes produced by the team for your areas.
  • Risk recognition and mitigation planning is a common theme across all SIT functions, and thus you must be able to fully understand any, and all, risk implications contained within any mitigation plan produced by the team. You will a strong contributor of risk judgement & planning.
  • Deliver fund and share class launches across a wide range of Fidelity's products
  • Co-ordinate fund mergers, conversions, transitions & closures and new instrument process where the impact may span across multiple departments/stakeholders.
  • Ensure accounts are opening in line with the requirements of the product investment group & to facilitate FX trading
  • Control of Market Due Diligence work, overseeing all activity for both new and current markets
  • Facilitation of the New Markets Committee (FINMAC) for all requests and reports
  • Keep abreast of all regulatory changes that potentially impact your area
  • Highly cognisant of any end to end impacts that affect SIT work streams

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Experienced in the Investment Management world with a good understanding of fund structures.
  • Experienced in Institutional on-boarding or transitions.
  • Have a strong understanding of a financial company's infrastructure and regulatory environment.
  • Understand how Institutional clients and custodians fit in to the overall picture.
  • Experienced in managing diverse operational activities at any given time.
  • Can demonstrate strong relationship management skills and takes ownership for delivery.
  • Has strong decision making and conflict management skills.
  • Risk aware and able to plan and measure mitigation against identified risk.
  • Self-motivated and responsive to a constantly changing environment, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Have strong negotiation skills, at all levels, applied to stakeholder management.
  • Excellent English verbal and written articulation with attention to detail (desirable proficiency in Mandarin)
  • Technically strong ISFA skills & experience
  • Keen sense of ownership, and focus on delivery, i.e. will step up to represent the function / GBO
  • Confidence in own ability to deliver complex activity & solutions
  • Willingness to engage with internal & external contacts, across global locations, and at all levels
  • Proactive & inquisitive nature, reaching out to understand stakeholder & client requirements
