IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices. It employs around 8,500 employees globally and comprises five functions: Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and PMO, and Risk and Administration. Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC's technology strategy to support the Group's goals.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Technical Product Manager.

Principal responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for a team in Wealth IT with responsibility for infrastructure design, implementation, delivery and management.
  • Responsible for managing the delivery of IT SSP, namely the Service Sustainability Programme, the evergreening of technology and critical vulnerability patching for RBWM Wealth IT services and infrastructure.
  • Lead engineers in infrastructure team to ensure deliverables meet business needs, time to market and provide timely support of live systems.
  • Provide technical leadership on OS administration, Web engineering and Database management for system build, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, resilience live drill, cyber security and vulnerability patching.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, project managers to deliver suitable infrastructure solution which can cope with the business need.
  • Research and evaluate products in support of the technical strategy. Study, design and implement new infrastructure technology according to the standard and governance. Develop the technical competence of teammates in new technology.
  • Ensure systems comply with group infrastructure and security policies and standards.
  • Identify any issues that may arise to delivery risk, formulate preventive actions or corrective measures and timely escalate major project risks and issues to management.
  • Provide professional consultancy and support in response to the queries from developers and business.
  • Work closely with various internal infrastructure community to influence the practice and standard of infrastructure products.


Qualifications
Requirements
  • A bachelor or master degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Solid experience in leading experienced engineers for the delivery of complex deployment projects and under diversified or matrix structure
  • Solid and proficient skills in infrastructure design, implementation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the key infrastructure products such as Oracle, Linux, Windows, Apache, WebSphere Liberty and or WebSphere MQ.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with external cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge on Splunk, AppDynamics, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, and or Puppet is highly preferred.
  • PMP certification or Agile Scrum Master certification is a plus.
  • Willing to learn, explore and implement new and emerging technologies.
  • Understanding of service management techniques including change management and incident management is preferred.
  • Track record in working on the delivery of complex deployment projects and under diversified or matrix structure.
  • Strong business sense with understanding of the business requirement and environment.
  • Sound leadership, negotiation, critical thinking and time management skills.
  • Excellent guide or mentor with other Leadership qualities like coordination and negotiation skills, influencing skills etcetera.
  • Sound communication, presentation and influencing skills to work with business, IT colleagues, and external parties like vendors.
  • Strong analytic skills to understand and resolve complex problems.
  • Excellent team player with ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Good command of written and spoken English. Mandarin is also preferred.
  • Able to work at flexible hour to work with colleagues in various time zones.
