Research Analyst II (Land Warefare)

Summary:

We are seeking a subject matter expert to author market forecasts and author defence programme tracking analysis on the subject of military ground vehicles and associated weapon and protection systems. The role sits within the Jane's Land Team, a global team of subject matter experts covering news, analysis, technical reference and market forecasting for ground vehicles and associated weapon and mission systems.

Duties:

  • Review, validate and update country and programme forecasts for military vehicles including new build and upgrade/retrofit programmes within the Jane's Markets Forecast: Military Ground Vehicles and Jane's Defence Procurement Combat Vehicle Programmes products.
  • Review, validate and update technical reference profiles within the Jane's Firepower, Survivability & Mobility product, covering the subjects of vehicle based weapon, armour, active protection and mobility systems including medium and large calibre cannons, ATGM and active protection systems (APS) using relevant technical knowledge and amplifying independent open source research.
  • Author news and analysis papers on the above subjects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers and defence users.
  • Attend trade and relevant industry events as required to gather information.
  • Provide support to the wider Jane's teams on the specialist subject.
  • Contribute to consulting and ad-hoc analytical studies and projects, including web based and in-person presentations and briefings.
  • Working closely with a global pool of subject matter experts to deliver timely, accurate and meaningful data and analysis;
  • We believe that this would suit someone who has strong experience of military vehicles, defence weapons and/or armour technology but also has a genuine interest in the subject of military vehicles and weapon systems, their technical and functional make up and who is happy to research and write about them in a technical manner for one of the premier defence publishers.


Education & Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a defence related subject.
  • The candidate will also be proficient in analytical and journalistic writing styles.
  • Previous experience of analysis, journalism, consulting and/or technical writing is desired, with strong written and oral English language skills essential.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong self-motivation to work without significant managerial supervision to multiple deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Strong abilities in open source information gathering. Networked candidates in ADAS domain will be given preference.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in this domain.
