Job Description
Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express' merchant-and network related businesses to enable a sharp focus on using the power of our network to provide unique value to all our mutual customers. The organization manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accepts American Express and runs the company's payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.
The objective of the Regulatory Business Self Testing (RBST) team under Financial Crime COE within Global Governance, Risk, Remediation, and Operations (GRRO) is to identify, assess, measure and monitor as well as report and escalate compliance risk within GMS onboarding processes to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, Amex policy and enhance the BU's resilience through managing a clear methodology of inherent and residual risk.
RBST team is looking for an Analyst focused on global KYC testing for evolving KYC refresh and partner-related testing activities and analytical capability within the team. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies.

Responsibilities
The Analyst, GMS Global KYC Testing will:
- Perform end-to-end Regulatory Business Self-Testing (RBST) across global markets, ensuring testing is executed accurately, consistently and within established timelines.
- Test acquisition and onboarding of merchants for adherence to applicable AML/KYC regulations, Amex policies and market-specific requirements, and document testing results and exceptions.
- Collaborate with other RBST colleagues to understand and consistently interpret regulatory testing requirements, testing methodology and testing priorities.
- Review merchant records, supporting documentation, system information and other relevant evidence; apply sound judgment to determine testing outcomes and develop clear, evidence-based conclusions.
- Identify, document and escalate testing exceptions, potential gaps, recurring issues and systemic themes, and support analysis of root causes and remedial actions.
- Use Excel and other analytical tools, where required, to extract, query, reconcile and analyze data for testing, sample validation and investigation of potential exceptions.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and productivity, support communication with regional testing and business teams, and participate in standardization and continuous improvement of RBST testing procedures.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; relevant experience or certifications in risk, compliance, AML/KYC or testing are advantageous.
Experience in at least one of the following:
- Regulatory testing involving areas such as AML/KYC, merchant/customer acquisition or onboarding, data protection, regulatory compliance or other financial-services regulations.
- Executing end-to-end testing, including evidence review, exception identification, documentation, analysis and reporting across multiple markets or geographies.
- Using SQL, Excel and data analytics to support testing, identify populations, select or validate samples, reconcile data, and identify trends or anomalies.
- Supporting risk assessment, quality assurance, testing standardization, continuous improvement or thematic analysis of testing results.
- Knowledge of American Express businesses and systems such as Genesis, SMAC and Cadence, and/or knowledge of a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Italian or French), would be an advantage.
