Design Technology Lead

(Global Practice - T&D)

Job Responsibilities

• Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Design Technology Lead for the

• Transmission & Distribution Global Practice.

• This role involves collaborating with Engineering Leads to resolve technical issues, addressing CAD system concerns, and ensuring proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.

• The Design Technology Lead will be responsible for updating project forecasts and coordinating with the team and Office Section Manager. The position focuses on identifying efficiency improvements, guiding designers, and organizing team-building activities.

• The Design Technology Lead will support training programs in collaboration with BMcD and BMI to promote continuous improvement and growth within the

• Design Technology group.

Job Functions

• Work with Engineering Leads to resolve technical issues and address CAD system concerns

• Update project forecasts or draft forecast regularly

• Regularly coordinate and collaborate with team and office Section Manager

• Manage project budgets by working with account lead, perform resource allocation and scheduling for the design team

• Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and workable solutions

• Own quality of activities performed and show improvisation on it, as required

• Coordinate and promote consistency across both T&D Mumbai and Bengaluru offices

• Demonstrate the ability to work without constant supervision, direction and guide designers as needed

• Identify efficiency improvement areas amongst the team and make necessary changes/recommendations for continuous improvement

• Conduct team building activities

• Training team members on project process and draft procedures

• Identify training needs and support training programs in collaboration with BMcD and BMI

• Catalogue and explain lessons learnt and improve efficiency

• Communicate between team and coordination with all designers, Leads, Section Manager and DM/ADM.

Qualifications

Eligibility Criteria

• ITI or Engineering Diploma

• Preferred minimum 10 yrs of Electrical experience

• Employee Owner with minimum 2 years of work experience in BMI

• Working experience on Physical and P&C drawings, T&D substation experience preferred

• A chargeability rate of approximately 80%

• Excellent Knowledge of AutoCAD & MicroStation

• Preferred experience in 3D design (Revit, Inventor) and support for MTO preparation

• Preferred experience doing CAD quality checks

• Proficient in preparing technical drawings, including detailed plans, elevations, and designs, based on sketches for both Primary and Secondary design phases

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities

• Ability to clearly convey issues and resolutions to client counterpart in verbal and written communication

• Willingness to offer help and guidance to the team or in the department
